The mainstream media’s glorification of totalitarian hellholes won’t strike anyone familiar with 20th century history as new, but this weekend’s coverage of North Korea’s regime at the Olympics would make even former New York Times journalist Walter Duranty blush.
As the 2018 Olympics Winter Games began in South Korea, reporters from various networks clapped like seals at North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un’s pathetic attempt at charming journalists into accepting his regime as legitimate, choosing to woo them over with synchronized cheer squads and having his sister Kim Yo Jong leer at Vice President Mike Pence.

Reading some of my textbooks, with the cherry-picked statistics, I get that these guys were taught this stuff to some degree, but why-oh-why don’t they bother to check sources to get the rest of the story when kith and kin are being trashed?

I wonder how many of them will defect? I expect that they were warned that if any did, their parents, brothers and sisters would be sent to work camps, or worse one or more would be shot. While at the games they are probably isolated except when needed for a public display but will still get a glimpse of what they are missing in their North Korean prison home. When they go back they will whisper what they observed but will be warned that speaking in public will result in arrest or worse.
I’m not sure why you say such things, except perhaps a larger sarcasm tag is needed. Maybe soon what President Trump is doing will encourage the North Koreans to throw out their dictator.
We shed blood and treasure to free all people from these type of sons of bitches and the media has always been the enemy since WWII. The media is scum.
