Kirsten Gillibrand is NY State democrat party royalty through genetic inheritance.
She comes from a solid democrat family with deep connections to the NY State democrat machine centered in Albany, the NY State capital.
Her grandmother was Polly Noonan, the mistress of Albany Mayor Erastus Corning. Corning was the mayor of Albany from 1942 until 1983.
It is widely accepted that Kirstens mother is the illegitimate daughter of Mayor Corning.
Corning was more or less the Albany equivalent of Chicagos original Mayor Daley (father to the present mayor). Although Corning was probably more powerful than Daley because the source of his power was at the top of the democrat machine that controlled the state capitol.
In those days Corning was the powerful associate and ally of Dan OConnell, who was head of the Albany Democratic machine for almost 50 years until his death in 1977.
Nothing got done in the NY capital city unless OConnell and Corning got a piece of the action. They controlled everything.
When Hillary Clinton, then senator of NY, broke her promise to finish out her term and became Obamas Secretary of State, Kirsten was hand picked to be appointed her successor.
Well, you certainly upstaged my answer... lol.
Interesting history. Thank you!
The progression of the Democrat family in New York has unfortunately remained Democrat. Same for CT and NJ.
If only the Republicans in the tristate area more mettle, there’d be wider support. Not necessarily state-wide, but definitely within districts.
