Donald Trump should treat people – especially women – with more respect, and continue investments in poorer countries for the sake of global security, the world’s leading philanthropic couple Bill and Melinda Gates said on Tuesday.
In remarks accompanying the annual letter to the public about global development issued by their philanthropic foundation, Melinda Gates said: “I wish our president would treat people, and especially women, with more respect when he speaks and tweets.”
And Bill Gates warned that the proposed Trump administration budget could directly lead to millions of preventable deaths around the globe, due to proposed vast cuts to foreign aid and development funds.

The Trump administration, as it did last year, proposed billions of dollars in cuts to foreign aid, which makes up less than 1% of US spending, in its 2019 budget outline. Last year, lawmakers in Congress from both parties mostly ignored the request, and Gates said he hoped they would again this year too.
In a separate interview, Melinda Gates criticized Donald Trump’s habit of using Twitter to attack women and minority group.

Well, actually, Bill did give away his fortune to his foundation to give away.
Still, he’s a liberal and they, for some reason, aren’t that bright when it comes to understanding that actions having consequences.
The best way to help these countries is to NOT help them! I have no problem with private individuals or charity groups helping 3rd world hell-holes (and good luck if the soldiers don’t kill or rape you), but not U.S. taxpayers. The majority of foreign aid goes into corrupt tinpot dictators pockets who spend it on weapons and food to feed his rag-tag armies. Money never goes to the poor.
As a much more intelligent American than Bill and Melinda Gates; I urge President Trump to GREATLY reduce all foreign aid.
First off, Tweeting is not Treating. Saying something about a faraway place has no effect on the people living there unless the words are followed with action. So saying the POTUS’s tweets hurt people is beyond ridiculous.
Anyone who has paid for MS Windows directly or indirectly funded these social busybody asshats.
I wish Bill Gates would STFU and spend his hard earned US Dollars back in America thst allowed him to play Little Lord Fauntleroy and world rescuer.

For ultra-rich Leftists like Mr. & Mrs. Microsoft, foreign aid is not charity; it is an entitlement. We are supposed to fund hostile, corrupt, despotic regimes — because ultimately our prosperity is at their expense.

It certainly is not in the US interest to have tyrannical regimes that oppress their own people. They also tend to foist their poison on their neighbors and send their people — with their problems — fleeing to the West.
I am a conservative, not a libertarian, so my concern is what works, not adherence to ideological purity. Foreign aid might be appropriate, but with strings attached.
The corrupt regime will get no support. The government must accept being managed toward limited representative government, freedom of the press, habeas corpus, religious liberty, economic freedom, etc.
To instead to throw money at a basket-case country to make ourselves feel good only perpetuates the misery and injustice.
Maybe they could donate their billions to the U.S. Treasury to help retire the $10 TRILLION that Obama and a complicit Congress overspent. Yeah, it’s a drop in the bucket, but you have to start somewhere.
The alternate is Apple, and then you are funding THOSE social busybody asshats.

Use the money to shore up social security, health care and lower taxes for American citizens.
