I get why sometimes news leaks because it’s a trial balloon to see if it has legs with the public before politicians take a risk (like “administration considering implementing new regulations aimed at ... “ then they run polls on the response of the public). But I will never understand why a guy who is 100% certain to run bothers with leaking that he’s going to say he’s running in a few days. What’s the point?
