Warren addresses claims of Native American heritage (squaw make heap big talk talk alert)
Boston Globe ^ | February 14, 2018 | Matt Viser and Liz Goodwin

Senator Elizabeth Warren made a surprise appearance at the National Congress of American Indians Wednesday morning, forcefully responding to President Trump’s derisively calling her "Pocahontas" and addressing her claims of Native American heritage more directly - and far more expansively - than she ever has before.

[Snip]

She did not apologize for her claims that her mother’s family had Cherokee blood — instead, reaffirming: "My mother's family was part Native American. And my daddy's parents were bitterly opposed to their relationship. So, in 1932, when Mother was 19 and Daddy had just turned 20, they eloped."

"The story they lived will always be a part of me," she planned to say, according to a copy of her prepared remarks. "And no one - not even the president of the United States - will ever take that part of me away."

"A DNA test would answer the question."

Yup A less than $100 test could read her mtDNA....it's passed from mother to daughter. All the female in her lineage will have the same mtDNA.

“they eloped.”

So the REAL story is that maw-maw got knocked up and they created a cover-story that wouldn’t get them completely ostracized.

I personally have no faith in those DNA testing outfits, because I doubt they maintain traceability of submitted samples. I think some commercials are a tipoff. Woman thought she was Italian. They said 26% N.A. Guy thought he was German down to his liederhosen, told be’s actually Scottish. Bwaaaaa-haaaa-haaa-haa-ha!

Or not. On the average, if her family stories are true, she could be three percent. Which is not enough to get any targeted favor, legitimately, or even to show up in dna.

You see, we are not half mom and half dad, but half the whole list of mom’s relations and half the whole list of dad’s relations, with the other halves disappearing. So she could turn up zero NA, or 50%; false negative or exaggerated positive. Unless she lied. Again.

“....it’s valuable to the dems to keep the narrative going”.........

Why not? It’s about authentic Native American Votes. It worked when they ran a “black” person and got the Negro vote, why not go after the red man’s votes this time?

Get real.

It was just a comment about a guy I used to work with from there.

He was a true ‘Pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd and go play cahds’ kinda guy.

But since he was a member of this tribe that is federally recognized, he got to use his native American status in his private business to get government set aside contracts................

My ancestors on my mom’s side were probably brought to Europe in slave ships. Most likely Roman ones. Dad’s family probably traded slaves, they brought nice native blond girls to the Mediterranean. So what does it mater where we came from, the here and now is the important time. I don’t care what your relatives past or present, came from or have done, what have you excelled in or accomplished, that makes you so qualified and important?
