Spot on. They have no problem listening in on private conversations and unmasking people who've committed no crime, but they ‘can't find’ someone who makes an online threat using their own name. There is absolutely no excuse for this. None. If I had to guess, they probably ‘assumed’ that the name Nikolas Cruz was a pseudonym, and didn't even look for him by name. He probably left an IP address when he posted to this guy's blog, and likely if they tracked that and looked for the name in the area, they would have found him - with his record of being expelled for making threats etc.
If he had made a threat against a major politician you know they would have found him.
