I've just been reading on Breitbart a tirade against Bill Kristol, which features a comparison between this supposedly falling neocon star and the author's friend Tony, who landed in jail after stabbing his ex-wife's lover. Just like Tony, who unsuccessfully tried to attract his divorced wife's attention, Bill, we are told, is going nuts in expressing his contempt for Donald Trump. But like Tony, who in a fit of frustration destroyed his own life, Bill may be self-destructing as he disses a transformed conservative establishment.
I'm not sure that this labored comparison works since I've no idea what the equivalent is in Bill's case to Tony "being sent to jail." Anyhow I've seen other more forceful recent attacks on Kristol from Trump-supporters and even vanilla conservatives, and while I fully share their distaste for their target, I doubt that any of them is entirely correct. If my own understanding of the conservative movement is accurate, then Kristol's critics assume a degree of flexibility in their movement that's not really there. The current conservative movement came to be what it is because of those interests that shaped it. Its donor base is made up noticeably of supporters of weapon procurement and foreign policy hawks.
These benefactors are very much in line with Kristol's Weekly Standard and the Washington Free Beacon, run by Bill's son-in-law, Matthew Continetti. Paul Singer, Rupert Murdoch, Sheldon Adelson, and other backers of neoconservative enterprises and Washington "conservative" think-tanks are unlikely to abandon Bill Kristol simply because he's taken whacks at The Donald, whom most of these donors also hate – or barely tolerate. Nor has Kristol broken all ties to his old associates. He never followed George Will's lead in dissociating himself from the Republican Party. Indeed, he remains a registered Republican and is still something of a "#NeverTrump conservative."

Kristol went Nuts just like his old man. Time to forget him.
The only thing Kristol seems to stand for is more war and more Federal government. He can go to hell.
Bush League Republicans are finished.
They just don’t know it yet.
#fakenews
Bill Kristol is not a conservative.
Search Bill Kristol MSNBC
That’s where he’s been relegated to.
Banned from reality and forced to profit in make believe.
And open borders and amnesty.
That is the key to stealing the country from the citizens and making US part of the New World Order that Poppy Bush desires.
He was never “In” as far as I’m concerned.
Putz.
It would seem Bill Kristol got the same seemingly incurable
disease David Brock is afflicted with. No other choice, send him to MSNBC where he will be fed and comforted.
Readers and audiences can form their own opinions of Bill Kristol. That’s why we have a free press.
Thanks for pointing out that the despicable smug Kristol is another Bush League Undocumented Democrat working for a left wing media, MSNBC.
Kristol was always a far-lefty in masquerade, and anyone who couldn’t see that all along needs to wisen up fast. This guy isn’t even one of the better actors in the field.
I was a charter subscriber to The Weekly Standard back in `95. I allowed my subscription to expire after one year because everything Kristol mewled about came across with the underlying sense that Kristol considered himself a Republican and absolutely loathed himself for being so.
Kristol has never been a Happy Warrior for conservatism.
Never say the Neocon wing of the GOPe is dead or dying. Bush the Elder, McCain, Rove, Barnes, and Kristol may soon depart the mortal coil. But there are plenty left. Bush the Lessor, Bolton, Romney, Graham, and Rubio are still around creating globalist mischief.
Bill Kristol’s foreign policy is still very popular on Free Republic.
Bill Kristol jumped the shark during the campaign and after the election of President Trump, with his constant griping and criticism of Trump.
He has made himself irrelevant, except to those close to him who live in the same bubble of unrealism.
Kristol is right up there with Ana Navarro for my first choice to reach into the TV and bitch slapping one or both of them for being so grating and strident in their negative comments about the president.
When they speak, they both remind me of Obama. I couldn’t stand to even listen to his voice either.
