Jimmy Kimmel got choked up during his late-night monologue on Thursday night while discussing the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
“Don’t you dare let anyone say it’s too soon to be talking about [gun control],” Kimmel said amid an emotional takedown of Trump’s approach to the tragedy. “Because you said it after Vegas, you said it after Sandy Hook, you say that after every one of these — eight, now — fatal school shootings we had in this country this year.
“Children are being murdered,” he declared as his voice broke. Addressing President Trump directly, he added, “Do something. We still haven’t even talked about it. You still haven’t done anything about this. Nothing. You’ve literally done nothing. Actually, you’ve done worse than nothing. You like to say this is a mental health issue, but one of your very first acts as president, Mr. Trump, was actually roll back the regulations that were designed to keep firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill.”
Nineteen-year-old Nikolas Cruz, armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic assault-style rifle, was arrested and charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder after opening fire at Stoneman Douglas. Seventeen people were killed on Wednesday and 14 others were injured.
In an address delivered from the White House, Trump said he plans to visit families in Parkland and work with “state and local leaders” to “tackle the difficult issue of mental health.”
“I agree, this is a mental health issue,” Kimmel said, “because if you don’t think we need to do something about it, you’re obviously mentally ill.”
Earlier in his monologue, the late-night host urged Americans to “tell your buddies in Congress, tell Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and Marco Rubio, all the family men who care so much about their communities, that what we need are laws, real laws, that do everything possible to keep assault rifles out of the hands of people who are going to shoot our kids.”
He also called on Trump again to fulfill his promise to bring common sense to the swamp on Capitol Hill. “Tell these Congressmen and lobbyists, who infest that swamp you said you were going to drain, force these allegedly Christian men and women who stuff their pockets with money from the NRA year after year after year to do something,” he said. “Now. Not later. Now.”

Has he written his “common sense” gun control law yet?
I’m still waiting to hear a single detail about that idea.
Far more are killed in the streets of Chicago and other cities, yet those killings, often gang related, don’t show up on the radar of liberal Hollywood idiots.
Or all the kids in Chicago and Baltimore, and other major cities that get shot and killed? All those inner city child killings probably exceed the mass shooting deaths on a yearly basis.
The talk shows and the media are busy blaming guns and politicking the incident shifting the blame when they should be furthering the need for student security.
Particularly since there have been examples occurring of such episodes worldwide.
One who comes to mind is John Howell of am890 WLS Chicago. Which prompted the inspiration for the following observations who got it so wrong left me screaming at my radio .
In this facilities case, their security system should be brought to public discussion particularly because this school has a so called “gun free zone” .Which prohibits security from having guns. Plus examine records reporting how student vs student, and student vs teacher altercations, vandalism, and thefts, which are bound to occur were being dealt with.
Because in an educational unit this size it’s pretty clear their security system failed . In a secure system Cruz would have never gotten inside.
I think he needs to take a Midol
He did not mind the 16 schoolchildren getting murdered in Mexico by obama Fast and Furious gun giveaway to the drug cartels with the express purpose of murdering hundreds if not thousands of Mexicans.
Not a peep from him about it. He has had obama on and I bet fawned all over him.
There is a straight-line correlation between the increase of Liberalism and corresponding contempt of life in the USA and these shootings.
You want a cause, jimmah? Look in a freaking mirror.

More children die in the slums of India and Africa every day in worse conditions than these shootings. If he is going to be completely guided by emotion, then do something for them.

Guns are a reality.
Schools are not secured.
If total gun control were enacted today, guns would not go away for decades.
What are schools doing to secure their facilities? Obviously very little.

Cause many of us grew up in a time when students could be seen carrying their rifles in the school hallways on 'Gun Club' day... and no one was running, screaming and hiding when they saw them...The culture kept it's nuts in control. So, we're not falling for this liberal BS.
We love our children too. This IS NOT a battle between those who love their kids and want to protect them - and those who don't... It's a battle between people who are delusional and emotional and those who are not.
Fire drills in every school? Not a school fire in 50 years. NOT ONE ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILL IN ONE SCHOOL IN THE LAST 10 YEARS.
Endless school lunch manipulations... but NOT ONE ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILL.
It's time to get real and find real solutions and stop the drama queen crap.

The scary part will occur after they get their precious gun ban. The first time another school shooting occurs, and it will, they will then demand that the police go door to door and ferret out guns. They'll scare people into turning in their neighbors. This sounds a lot like 1930's Germany.
