The Donald is shrewd. Probably has an angle figured out already.

I don’t know. I hope POTUS isn’t the boy digging in the pile of horse manure, expecting to find a pony in there.

There’s no practical way for Trump to stop the Mormon carpetbagger.

Trump can’t stop Romney from winning in Utah / Mormonland so he endorses to gain a favor owed and to be able to later claim that his endorsement helped (as opposed to not endorsing and Mitt wins anyway).

I hope you’re right.
Perhaps, POTUS is playing a little 4D Chess that will curry support from Mittens down the road in the Senate and make it difficult for him to undermine MAGA agenda.

As the titular head of the GOP, I guess President Trump has no choice but to make this endorsement. Still, the glowing accolades are tough to swallow.

The Donald is shrewd. Probably has an angle figured out already.

He's a vote vacuum cleaner, he'll suck up every loose vote out there. And he won't lose much of his base in the process.

No, he’s somewhat politically naive; not to mention overtly confident, when he shouldn’t be. This is an insanely STUPID move that he did not have to make.

The Donald is shrewd. Probably has an angle figured out already.

He wants Romney not to support any primary challengers against President Trump in 2020, maybe even get Romney to endorse him for reelection.

Keep friends close, enemies closer, maybe.

Romney’s a RINO backstabber. Don’t turn your back to him, President Trump.

Going with a sure electoral winner is not exactly a difficult “angle” to figure out.

Mitt Romney was going to win, with or without, President Trump's endorsement. He will need his vote many times in the Senate. Remember the Roy Moore fiasco, which was not Donald Trump's fault at all. We lost a safe seat in Alabama.

There’s no real angle. Mitt, unfortunately, is a shoo-in. Therefore, it would serve absolutely NO purpose for Trump to oppose him.

This way, Mitt either feels all warm and cuddly and works with Trump (very unlikely), or looks like an ingrate if he attacks Trump (much more likely).

Same here. There must be an agreement in place.
