While 64,000 is a lot of people, it should kept in perspective. It’s less than 1% of people who use opioids for chronic pain, and about twice the number who die from the flu each year. Doubling down on the failed WOD and making it harder to get pain killers isn’t the right answer.
How many are killed and maimed in traffic accidents compared to the same with firearms?

All the shooters were on the mind-destroying drugs...and it’s deliberate.
This shooter screamed, begged, threatened - for months. I suspicion none of the people responsible to stop him may have done so deliberately - knowing this would play into their agenda.

I’m conflicted about this. On the one hand human life is sacred. On the other some people are so determinably self destructive why reach out. Here in Maryland there is at least one couple who overdosed four times and were saved by medtechs. Where is the line?
