I think post 1 is more accurate.
I can think of half a dozen people I know who will be for it today, because of the shooting, but will snap out of it by next week.
Nothing like a knee-jerk reaction poll to get the results you want.
How about fully funding enforcement of the laws currently on the books? There does need to be some outside certification of eligibility other than when filling out the purchase application forms you check a pile of “no” boxes and the world is supposed to trust and believe you. Trust but verify. Always thought that was the dumbest thing.
Possibly not. Support for gun control has been falling for years, but there probably is a temporary uptick with the latest incident.

Why don’t they ever take a poll where they ask.
1) Do you want to send your children to a school where the
teachers say they will die with your kids in the event of
a school shooter.
2) Do you want to send your kids to a school where the
teachers say they will shoot any hostile threat till
it stops moving.
