Somehow I dont see how a 26 minute delay would help them to delete images. There would have to be a secret system that was not delayed, it would seem to me.

It’s possible that the school’s video feed was designed to be automatically sent out to the sheriff’s office. So yes, there’d have to be a “secret system” to intercept and erase any embarrassing video. That secret system could well be in the principal’s office.
As a side note, I spent decades teaching in an urban public school. We had cameras everywhere, inside and out.
But often after a hallway fight we were told that the camera covering that area was “broken”. So sorry, we don’t know which students to hold accountable.

Of course they would have to get on it and remove anything embarrassing or questionable - getting on it would be where that process would probably break down.
