The National Rifle Association hit back on Friday at Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel after accused NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch of "not standing up" for the survivors of the school shooting that took place last week in Parkland, Fla.
"No Sheriff Israel you were the one that didn't PROTECT these children and that is your job. You run the largest fully accredited sheriff's office in the United States, yet your office failed this community," the NRA said from its verified Twitter account......
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students questioned lawmakers and the NRA on Wednesday during a gun town hall hosted by CNN in Sunrise, Fla.
During the town hall, Israel told Loesch that she wasn't "standing up for the students" affected by the massacre.
"You just told this group of people that you are standing up for them," Israel told Loesch. "You're not standing up for them, until you say I want less weapons."
The town hall came one week after a shooter used a semi-automatic AR-15-style rifle and killed 17 people and injured more than a dozen more. Nikolas Cruz, the 19-year-old suspect, is in custody and faces 17 counts of premeditated murder.
Up to four Broward County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly failed to enter school during the shooting, including Scot Peterson, who served as the armed school resource officer.
The sheriff's failed consistently and repeatedly over a period of years.

Not “less AR-15s”...less incompetent, cowardly political law enforcement!
Ditto too everything that the NRA said.The local school district board.Law Enforcement Agency and the FBI all contributed to the deaths of these children by failing to do their jobs with the tools and laws that they had on hand.
This was complete Negligence on behalf of those groups I mentioned.
The Sheriff has a lot of nerve stating that we the law abiding citizens have to surrender more of our civil rights just so they can make students safer.He should be fired.
They make more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ by murder
(which CNN and the fake “students” knew about in advance)
than by their oaths and jobs.
They did not fail. They succeeded at sedition and murder.
I love how NRA is fighting back hard, with both barrels. Actually 9,000,000 barrels.

Anyone consider those officers might have been told to “stand down”? There are too many unanswered questions to say this was some crazy kid hell bent on shooting up a school full of kids. Didn’t Cruz post that he was about to be a “professional shooter”? Stating so, it sounds as though he was going to be PAID/ By whom?
That picture saids it all!
Contrast this Parkland incident to the one that took place at a rural church in Texas a while back where IIRC the gunman was stopped by a former NRA instructor with a rifle who shot and then chased the killer down in his bare feet.
Cowards in that department. Pure and simple.
So its clear now that this was a law enforcement failure of the FBI and Sheriff’s Department. Yet Trump wants to raise the purchase age for long guns to 21. Can someone explain that to me?
The department needs to replace 1 Sheriff and 4 Deputies, so far.
IMHO, the failures that should be held accountable:
1. School - Special Ed. program fails to ID & care for a seriously disturbed kid.
2. District (Broward) - Establishes a SANCTUARY program to excuse student criminal behavior and garner state & federal funding. [Cruz needs removal from school]
3. BSO - Endorsed and backs up the same SANCTUARY program to excuse juvenile delinquents outside the home. [Cruz needs removal from home]
4. BSO -Receives & ignores multiple credible tips detailing threats that Cruz will murder students. BSO fails to secure Cruz’s gun collection after request.
5. FBI- Receives & ignores a credible tip(s) detailing threats that Cruz will murder students.
6. BSO - fails to monitor the school in real time, fails to respond to a menacing / shooting man on campus (SRO).
7. BSO - fails to respond to an active shooting situation and hides in the parking lot.
Yet the crazies blame the NRA.
