Save Thy people, O Lord,
and bless Thine inheritance.
Grant victory to Thy Church over her enemies,
and protect Thy people by Thy Holy Cross!
Pinging this, brothers and sisters, because the article exposes everything that is contrary to our beloved Prayer of St. Ephraim that we offer so frequently in this blessed season of repentance.
O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, despair, lust of power, and idle talk.
(Prostration)
But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience, and love to Your servant.
(Prostration)
Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own transgressions, and not to judge my brother, for blessed are You, unto ages of ages. Amen.
(Prostration)
When an author calls it “liberalism” and not the more descriptive term “Progressive” that fully encompasses the ideology, I have to question their understanding of the problem.
Well, spiritual nature abhors vacuums too. From an apprehension of God as the personal wise shepherd to One who makes rules that everybody else should follow, Christendom decayed. And the decay has right and left flavors.
It’s all epitomized by “deplorables” and “crumbs”. The first sunk Hillary, the second, whoever runs in ‘20.
A well-written and thought out essay.
Yes, this is how the left think.
They “know” better, and they “know” that people must be forced to do what they want them to do.
Everything flows from those assumptions.
Nothing we can do will appease them. As David Horowitz said with them “the issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution”.
If we gave up semi-autos tomorrow, then 22’s would be the issue. They will never stop until they have us completely subservient and powerless. This is not a move to achieve any goal. It is about the accumulation of power and nothing else.
but the fact remained that this was a predatory state which the Czar and a small group of noblemen and bureaucrats ruled for their own exclusive benefit...The ruling group owned all the wealth, enjoyed all the privileges and monopolized all the political power, and it did not intend to give up any of its prerogatives. It considered the peasants to be little better than animals..."
Sounds pretty similar to me.
Liberalism is narcissism.
Bookmarked and bumped.
” And the most hubristic of all is Obama’s “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”
Abject goosestepping Seig Heil! hubris. When TSHF, these prissy boys won’t know what hit them. Good article.
The ersatz liberalism which is socialism is cynicism towards society, with concomitant naive faith in government. And cynicism is inherently patronizing and arrogant.American conservatives (true liberals) are skeptical enough about society to grant the unfortunate necessity of government - but also skeptical of government. Conservatives are not cynical; cynicism is an antonym for faith.
Above all, liberalism is a hubristic faith. Its followers share the fatal flaw of pride in their own intellectual capacity. This is why liberalism appeals so strongly to those in the knowledge trades: teachers, journalists, writers, psychologists, and social workers. The sense of "knowing more than others" is its strongest attraction particularly to the young, who otherwise know so little. Liberalism confers, or seems to confer, almost immediate power and authority to those who embrace it.Also (especially?) lawyers.
“The sense of ‘knowing more than others’ is its strongest attraction”
This really nails it in terms of the psychology of progressivism.
Slaves hate those who are free - they’d rather be a big man in the pond than a free man standing on his own in the ocean...
