So the woman is going to be portrayed as a scheming coward? If so then it's perhaps the first time a woman will achieve equality with a man on modern television.
Usually a woman is portrayed as a wise savant or a 90lb ninja who dispatches 6'7" bad guys with a single punch.

In high school Literature class, we listened to a recording of “Hamlet,” with Jonathan Harris in the title role. I can still recall the “To be, or not to be...” soliloquy delivered in the same whiny-simpering Dr. Smith voice.

The original Lost in Space wasn't that good, so if this version is horrible, it's just carrying on in the established tradition.
Plus, this may actually be one remake that is less gay than the original.
