The campus monitor could have and should have immediately walked to up Cruz and questioned him.

Presumably the gun was in the bag and Cruz would need a couple seconds to take it out.

A quick thinking CM could have disarmed him before Cruz could get the gun out of the bag.

The EXACT opposite is the case. He was carrying a duffle and a backpack, no weapon in sight. Proper police procedure would be to challenge him as he headed to the building.

Fire the lot of them. Run them out of town on a rail. Any LEO who would stand down in the face of mass slaughter of school children, even if ordered, does not belong in America or in this era. They would have been downright helpful during pogroms in Russia or Kristalnacht in Germany, or in the Ottoman Empire during the mass murder of Armenians.

The following is not all in reply specifically to you but should be said.

To all:

That's a myth that's making the rounds, and it's been disseminated to many unsuspecting, good and even smart people as fact. The myth has also been presented many times by popular media in fiction. But that myth has the potential to motivate more mass murderers.

An officer at the scene of an active, armed attacker must stop the attacker immediately. Otherwise, the attacker will probably quickly wound and/or kill many more victims. There are many children in each of most schools, and their parents--constituents--will not tolerate a policy that allows them to be murdered for the purpose of keeping government employees safe from the psychopaths who resulted from their anti-family judicial policies (see decades of academic feminist presentations for judicial officers).

So for police show buffs and union member relatives here, how many children do you want sacrificed to medicated, murderous sons of bad social policy for the sake of absolute officer safety? How desperately do you want to have our Second Amendment to be repealed because of a policy of standing aside for mass murderers?

We family rights advocates told you all during the '90s that the superpredators were coming because of your rotten anti-family laws and policies against men. They're here.

Either make sure that your public servants stop them, or get the lifelong civilians out of the way to make way for real, combat-trained prior soldiers to do it (infantry, engineers...but not rear echelon military lifers).

The age of preferred policies of the Clintons is coming to a close. If elements of the social left are willing to abandon those evil policies, maybe we'll just call a couple of generations of failed experiment an error instead of a crime. This report clearly shows blame belongs to the SRO who did not run to confront Cruz while taking whatever available cover he could. That guy is responsible.

It’s not uncommon to list enough charges to justify keeping the suspect in jail at the time of booking, then add additional charges when the formal charge is prepared. That’s probably what the story is here.

So the so-called security cop sees Cruz arrive at the school in an Uber, get out carrying a duffle bag and backpack. Sees him walk toward the school. Knows something is wrong, but instead of confronting Cruz, he radios in. WTF!

This means the sheriff new who was doing the shooting and he stayed outside although he knew it was a lone killer.
