The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that immigration officials can continue to indefinitely detain immigrants during proceedings to determine the legality of their status in the U.S.
In the 5-3 decision, which Justice Elena Kagan took no part in, the Supreme Court reversed the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals decision that ruled detained immigrants must receive bond hearings every six months to determine if their continued detainment was necessary.
The decision of Jennings v. Rodriguez affects illegal and legal immigrants. Legal permanent residents facing deportation as a result of committing crimes and asylum seekers who have turned themselves in at the border and are awaiting a court date can be detained indefinitely with no interval bond hearings.
Justice Samuel Alito wrote the majority opinion, which included himself and the other conservative Justices John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Anthony Kennedy.
“Detention during those proceedings gives immigration officials time to determine an alien’s status without running the risk of the alien’s either absconding or engaging in criminal activity before a final decision can be made,” Alito wrote in the majority opinion.

Conservative judges????? Can’t they just say Constitution following judges?
I have never understood why there is a requirement to grant people who are not US citizens the rights afforded to us as citizens.
It doesn’t mean we have to subject them to torture, but it also doesn’t mean we have to Mirandize them and give them representation and a phone call.
Well....Dems are busy trying to get illegals the right to vote currently...furthermore that even when in prison the right to vote.
They cannot win the American people on their policies and they know it. So they’re now “representing” illegals both inside and outside our nation...they have to have mindsets that want to be ‘controlled’ and fed by the Goverment.

NAh....they love to camp out and get three squares a day. They set up “cities” inside these camps so that wouldn’t work.....then the UN would come along.....not a good equation even in a desert!
Well that’s why I posted this...we aren’t loosing this fight...there are just several ‘conflicts’ so each victory matters!
We took “a Hill” By electing Trump...but the enemy still has to be fought who hides out underground and still pops out to create conflicts...esepcially the closer we get to exposing them.

I’ve heard of the gov’t establishing interment camps throughout the U.S.; don’t know if that is true,I never seen one but if they do exist confining illegals there would be a good and just use of them. Then after all criminal illegal alien invaders have been deported tear them down.
Why do they get a hearing? They’re illegal. Put their name/names, picture, and prints in a computer and throw them out. Quit wasting money and time on a darn hearing. Then you don’t have to spend the money on their incarceration.
