Are you saying you couldn’t monitor the output from the secure enclave or as it is a read/write prom simply disable the hi-write power and glitch it on the remaining read power leg at boot?
Nice. Wonder if they’ll ever make that OS available for standard Android phones.
Yes, it is. Why would you assume it is not? Where do you think such passcode processing would be handled? That was the purpose of the Secure Enclave in the first place. . . to unlock the iPhone/IPhone and handle the data encryption. That's where the one way hash is stored that the password is converted each time it's inputted to the one-way hash to be compared to from the first time it was created from the first passcode input by the encryption engine processor and stored in the Secure Enclave EPROM. It has to be handled in there.
Keep in mind I've read every one of the Apple Security papers on its design and how it works so I KNOW where it is handled.
We've been discussing this very thing on one of the Q threads. Why spy on people who voluntarily spew every detail of what they are doing on Twitter, down even to every bowel movement.
Average security / privacy minded folk can use a proven VPN that doesn’t keep logs, to load Tails with RSA 4096 encryption or better and draft drop an email with AES 256 encryption that says “john has a long mustache” every time your bored ...... call it a day. If your really worried elliptic-curve cryptography may be yer huckleberry .......
I’m told .... MIT’s ripple is in the wild.
No, you can't read it. It's inside the Secure Enclave, it's a multilevel IC. . . and it's part of the processor IC and you can't get at it. . . The only thing that read/write to it is the dedicated processor that its part of. The other main DATA processor does not even have access to that EMPROM, or anything in the Secure Enclave.
Gee whiz SM, by then I will be old, and collecting social security. 😀
Uh, I hate to tell you this, Mark, but Social Security is projected to last only 1.7 X 101 years from now. . . so, highly unlikely even if you live that long, social security won't.
Darn, I knew I would get screwed somewhere along the line. 😀😆😄
Nope - no government program that gives the government more power ever gets un-done. It may go even darker and deeper, but never is ended.
I do NOT believe the theory I’m about to post - simply throwing out a “possible” scenario where there would be a possibility that the original article is truthful:
That Apple’s “Secure Enclave” is NOT what they have claimed it to be. -and that password/keys are NOT all found/secured in said “enclave” - and that it is a hoax/fraud by Apple.
But as I said - I don’t believe this at all - just trying to present the only way I see the supposed breach by this contractor to be real.
My free Samsung pad comes next week replacing the ipad apple chose to disable for economic reasons. Next week I cancell the family subsription of imusic. When the dust settles, all I’ll have is apple TV.
