...Trump told House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La.,...that a comprehensive gun bill would not pass if it included a concealed carry reciprocity proposal desired by Republicans....Trump told Scalise...it should pass as a separate. If you’re going to put concealed carry between states into this bill, we’re talking about a whole new ball game.”...the White House proposal will include raising the minimum age for buying long guns to 21 from 18 -- a proposal that Trump acknowledged is opposed by the NRA.

Two different issues.

Which is why I think it unwise to also pronounce, "I'd like to see a comprehensive bill!"

We were warned about "New York values".

From the Sullivan Act to the SAFE Act, nobody can deny that gun-control is a New York value.

People need to have more than one AR. One at your house, one or more at someone else's house, preferably some miles but no more than half a tank of gas away. They can't hit everywhere at once.

When I lived in California I watched gun control laws become more and more restrictive and took the precaution of burying my AWB restricted long guns and ammo in two ground hogs. Between 1995 and 2011 my AR and AK and several thousand rounds of ammo reposed quietly in a Northern CA National Forrest. The problem is that in that a 38 year old guy buried them in late 1995 and a 54 year old guy had to go dig them up in 2011 when I moved to a free state. My advice is, if you are going to resort to this sort of thing, be prepared to rent a backhoe.

Store weapons and ammo safely.

I will vote for a strong 2 amendment Republican if they roll on this their days are numbered in power. GHWBUSH stabbed gun owners in the back and they walked away. This issue is a deal breaker for many in his base and he won’t be able to make up the loses with Rat converts. Not too smart...

So you will vote - what? - for the Democrat? Just wondering. Because Trump should be the Republican candidate.

If he supports this, the GOP should go along with the Democrats’ impeachment efforts and send him to prison. I can guarantee you that Pence would put the kibosh on this AR ban for 18-21’s.

I don’t think this guy wants to be elected

I’m concerned that Hope Hicks announces she’s resigning right after testifying before congress and admitting to telling white lied. What she calls a white lie is a Whopper to Mueller.

Apparently, electing a Republican to the White House and giving them complete control of Congress means the democrats will finally be able to pass their gun control agenda.

Sometimes the best thing is to say and do nothing but the most neutral of response. How can anybody take the bait of the charade after the massacre is beyond me. All this does is open the door and emboldens the left to keep up these working tactics especially of little snot nosed kids and CNN. Big loss for MAGA and Trump agenda.

This is very, very unsettling to be coming from our President.

Agree. And to make Feinswein swoon with glee?

Trump knows she became a mega-millionaire through corruption. She illegally steered contracts to her husband and profitted personally.

Sheesh. VERY disappointing. I guess some will say Trump is just playing with the Democrats, but it sure does not look like it.

And Trump won't support National Reciprocity? Great.

No exemptions. All competent civilians of 18-21 years of age are also included in the Second Amendment. Besides, Trump’s publicly stated desire to bar all adults 18-21 from purchasing “long guns” would certainly put a damper on enlistment in our regular forces by young conservatives. It’s the move of a New York moron.

He ran with National Reciprocity as part of his platform. He’ll support it.

Yes, he is just playing with the Democrats but if it doesn’t look good, they might not buy it.

By now, Congress and the Senate is in an uproar, at each other’s throats over gun control, knowing that if they are up for election they will lose if they support it.

Meanwhile, what’s happening elsewhere? Who knows because everyone is focused on gun control right now.

" His comments were beyond reckless . I have never watched a Gop Gun Grabbing President Implode like this .

He gave the Dems plenty of support and trashed the honest gun owners and young hunters .

The midterms are wipe out with this logic .

He better work on his good bye speech on this road .

The WH has too many Manhattan libs and no hunters .< Its a echo chamber there .
"

Well said! And by the way, doesn't Mike Pence have a nearly perfect record against gun control?

States rights?! So you say stars have rights to abridge and infringe upon you constitutional rights? Oh silly me, let’s have 50 states of different laws for national constitutional rights. Bet you don’t travel state to state so do not care. Try traveling to NY, CA, IL and see how your rights work. Get over your anti-federal government bias and get real about having meaningful rights that are not dependent upon state, county, and city lines.

I’m hoping this is Trump’s way of getting red state Democratic senators to sign their political death warrants re the Second Amendment before turning around and saying to their voters that he did this to find out where they really stood on gun control. Now their voters know that they are unqualified gun grabbers, so it’s time to send them back to the private sector.

BTW, 21 already passed constitutional muster. Extending it from handguns to all is simply a law away, one Trump has signaled willingness to sign. Explain that to a member of the military entrusted with all forms of weapons, yet can buy and carry one, who then gets killed by a car jacket. Or yours or a friend’s daughter who is 18 or 19 and can’t defend against a rapist.

What has Trump done with this talk, just like his offer of amnesty to 1.8 million illegal aliens?! He has legitimized the topic and those positions, leaving it to RINO and GOPe to fight back, which is as likely as them repealing Obamacare.

President Pence? What is his position on 2nd amendment and amnesty? If Trump is impeached, for the sake of discussion, we get Pence. Maybe worth considering if Trump is willing to deal away with citizenship and 2nd amendment. There, put it on the table. Maybe WE should call for his impeachment.

My concern as well. I don’t like federal control of *anything*. Federal reciprocity is the camel getting his nose under the tent again.

That said, I am having a WTAF moment about the rest of the President’s proposals.
