...Trump told House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La.,...that a comprehensive gun bill would not pass if it included a concealed carry reciprocity proposal desired by Republicans....Trump told Scalise...it should pass as a separate. If you’re going to put concealed carry between states into this bill, we’re talking about a whole new ball game.”...the White House proposal will include raising the minimum age for buying long guns to 21 from 18 -- a proposal that Trump acknowledged is opposed by the NRA.

"We will not do anything without reciprocity — I promise you that.Someone needs to calm Trump down before he starts losing his base."

Yes. We have a Republican majority in both houses and even a few Democrats who'll vote against gun control. He knows the truth of the matter. He and the more radical Democrats are the only people who care about losing a bill for gun control.

Hopefully, congressional Republicans will call his bluff, keep the bill intact with reciprocity and see if he'll veto it. The real America demands to know the truth about where he stands.

I figure the one thing it will do is get Republican voters out in Nov. to make sure no Democrats get in.

I doubt POTUS will say much more about it now that everyone is stirred up. Hard to say.

Every time something like this happens and everyone freaks out, I hear “look! squirrel.”

He keeps this sort of stuff up and there is 100% guarantee that Congress and the Senate will be lost to Democrats, because a major portion of his base will sit home. Within a few months of that, Trump will be impeached and convicted.

And then Ginsberg and/or Kennedy would retire/die and dims would get to have a say in the SCOTUS nominee.

I think Pence is a Rino so that is a issue but he is just surrounded by many Manhattan types in the WH .
I suspect Pence even knows that grabbing young Midwestern hunters guns would result in a midterm wipe out for the Gop .
The whole family hunts together.

"As badly as I want CCW reciprocity passed into law, I think tactically Trump is right. Two different issues."

The House already approved such a measure, but Democrats in the Senate have blocked it and Trump seemed versed in that political reality.

"I think that maybe that bill will someday pass but it should pass as a separate” bill, Trump replied to Scalise.

"If you're going to put concealed carry between states into this bill, we're talking about a whole new ballgame. And you know I’m with you but let it be a separate bill,” he continued.

“You'll never get this passed if you add concealed carry to this, you’ll never get it passed.”

—Trump: Background checks will 'never' pass if concealed carry is attached

It seems to me that some patriots got “car sick” when Pres. Trump was at the wheel, dangling the DACA carrot in front of Democrats.

I suspect that we’re seeing Trump maneuvering here.

Although the Democrats may win a little in this deal, Trump may win even more for citizens.

Patriots have to support Trump by electing a Congress that will support Trump.

So you’d rather have a watered down, restrictive, useless “National” concealed carry bill, for what, when you travel through New York? No, thank you. I live in a state that has strong gun laws and borders other states that have good gun laws...again, don’t like where you live? Elect other reps or move...don’t water down my state’s law. And the last time I checked, the 10th amendment is a meaningful right.

Replace “guns” with “DACA” and sit back and enjoy the show. Trump is not going to do anything to negatively affect the 2A or 4A. The NRA would be screaming from the mountain tops if they thought he was...and they’re not. Very telling.

And politics is the art of the possible, too. CCW reciprocity is possibly to Trump, a bargaining chip, yet another, to hammer California in particular with. Getting HR38 as written would be the best possible ‘F.U.’’ to the reigning mandarins in Sacramento. Especially if interpreted properly by the SCOTUS to mean that I, trapped behind lines in CA can get my CCW from Virginia or Utah and it would be valid per the Constitution.

I am pissed with Trump right now

Deep breath and step away from the keyboard...it will be ok. It's all BS and theater...Think DACA, hell, think back through the last 2 years...if I had a dollar every time it was "Trump is done", or "Trump stepped in it this time"....I went to three rallies in three different locations and saw the energy and connection he had with his base....he's not going screw that up....let it play out.

States rights?! So you say stars have rights to abridge and infringe upon you constitutional rights? Oh silly me, let’s have 50 states of different laws for national constitutional rights.

Actually, this was originally the case. The Bill of Rights applied to the federal government and not to the states. Individual states were free to have official state churches and everything. The application of the BOR to the states was the work of the ACLU and other groups, though ironically some conservatives support this for the Second Amendment.

My neighbor, strong 2nd Amendment supporter and gun enthusiast, told me today he would be willing to give up high cap mags for CCW reciprocity.

But then he doesn’t have an AR-15 and is a long range bolt action guy. I don’t agree but I see his point.

I see the CCW reciprocity issue as 90% resolved already, all handled by state legislatures without federal assistance. Gaining those last few states just isn't worth trading magazine capacity, semi-auto rifles or anything else that the left wants so badly to restrict.

I bet you will find the same picture of Feinstein and Trump, heck add Schumer and Durbin during the DACA meeting...where is that now? Where are the Dems now? Nowhere and nowhere. And National Reciprocity ultimately will suck....so you’re better off trying to improve CCW in your state.

At the negotiating table NEVER GIVE AN INCH! The anti-gunners have nothing to offer and expect you to give up all your rights to them.

It would be easier to drain the oceans with a teaspoon than to do that.

“Vote more Republicans into Congress.”

See, that’s the problem. Just take a look at the Senate and you will see that fully two-thirds of the GOP, are really D’s in R jerseys. We need to purge most of those there at present and replace them with rational conservatives, people who will not thwart Trump simply because “he’s not one of them!”

Ask yourself, there are 8 “Republican seats in the Senate up for 2018, just how many of them do you want to see back next year?

Hatch(Romney), Flake, Heller, Barrasso, Wicker, Fischer, Corker (is he really going?), Cruz?

And then there’s the 26 RAT seats that are open. How many of those can we take with something other than the current “It’s My Turn Candidate” from the GOPE?

“There are 5 million AR-15 owners in the US.”

I’d make that 10 million. You have to count the one’s build at home with 80% Lowers. Back when you couldn’t buy a complete rife off the shelf, I ordered a “kit” from RRA. They wouldn’t even take an order. It took me six months to get a delivery position. Ditto for 80% lowers.
My guess is that with the Parkland shooting, you will see prices and deliveries going out very soon.

Replace them in primaries then, but don’t replace them with politicians who are against the Second Amendment.

Her “glee” will be short-lived, just like Chucky Schmucky Schmeckel Boy Schumer’s was on DACA. I’m not going all “knee jerk” on what takes place today.
