The 4473 form asks if you are purchasing the gun for someone else and knowing lying when you fill it out is falsifying a federal document.
“If you answer “yes” to this question, the sale cannot proceed. Answering “yes” when the truthful answer is “no” is a federal felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.”
