President Trump: Confiscate Guns Now, Worry About Due Process Later
The Truth About Guns ^ | 02/28/18 | Robert Farago

Posted on 02/28/2018 3:59:56 PM PST by Simon Green

“President Trump on Wednesday voiced support for confiscating guns from certain individuals deemed to be dangerous, even if it violates due process rights,” thehill.com reports. ‘I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida … to go to court would have taken a long time,’ Trump said at a meeting with lawmakers on school safety and gun violence. ‘Take the guns first, go through due process second,'” This he said despite . . .

Vice President Pence’s caution on gun confiscation.

Trump was responding to comments from Vice President Pence that families and local law enforcement should have more tools to report potentially dangerous individuals with weapons.

“Allow due process so no one’s rights are trampled, but the ability to go to court, obtain an order and then collect not only the firearms but any weapons,” Pence said.

“Or, Mike, take the firearms first, and then go to court,” Trump responded.

Here are some more choice Presidential quotes from the firearms chin-wag:

“Don’t worry about adding in the bump stock ban, I’ll do that myself — fortunately we are able to handle that without going through Congress.”

“The background chekcs are so important….people are afraid to do background checks because they’re afraid of….somebody. ….I don’t care who’s endorsing you, you’re going to be MORE popular if you do it.”

“It takes so long going to court to get due process – I like taking the guns early — so I like what you’re saying, but take the guns first, go through due process second”

“Some people don’t like the word comprehensive….I like the word comprehensive. I’d rather have a comprehensive bill. Can you merge yours into this bill or would you rather have a Fix NICS bill?”

“It would be really nice to create something that’s beautiful, that works.”

“What surprises me is that nothing has been done for so many years…I don’t understand why this hasn’t happened for the last 20 years…..there is so much commonality between Republicans and Democrats.”

Indeed!

Trump is playing russian roulette with 5 chambers loaded WRT his chances to win a second term, or even hold onto congress this year, with this foolish talk.

Feint or not, this sort of crap is why the government is (in theory) divided against itself.

Quidado America. Stuff like this could come back to bite us in the a$$.

we don’t have government by executive order. If the order is violative of the legislative process we will take it down in the courts immediately!!

Lotsa luck on that! You’re talking about cutting 100 billion out of doctors income stream!

Does the president understand the term “establishing a precedent”?

Yeah definitely. The anti-NRA propaganda has been very effective. Look at all of those companies that dropped their support in the last couple of weeks. They’re all falling for the propaganda from the left.

It doesn't matter if he's serious about this. His language today is doing serious damage.

Where have you been since June 16, 2015?

I've been solidly behind Trump every step of the way since Jan. 2016. I have repeatedly stated that he has been the greatest president in history since some time last fall. I don't do cult of personality though. I don't like this and I will say so.

Relying on Trump to restore the Rule of Law is looking like a longer and longer shot all the time.

We’d all be better if he’d stop government monies going to school that team up with LEOs to not arrest little thugs.

Not a single person has been fired due to their utter incompetence, and you want to come after my civil rights?

F*ck you, Mr. Trump.

The Hysteria never ends.

The problem here is if you violate Due Process then what good is the Constitution? Going down a slippery slope like that bodes ill for all of us.

The Florida shooting, as we now can see, was a massive failure by Federal, State, and Local police and mental health professionals. This kid could have and should have been stopped and he wasn’t.

There were opportunities to have this kid committed to a institution, arrested and/or charged with a crime. It was preventable. Yet the MSM will not talk and focus on the cracks in the system, just the Gun Control aspect.

>> “Cruz shouldn’t have been allowed a pea shooter, never mind a gun.” <<

And who didn’t know that?

If you have an argument with your spouse and someone calls the police, they will run you at the DOJ to find out what guns you own before responding to the call.

They will leave with your guns in their trunk, and your chances of getting them back will diminish with each day they hold them.

Cruz was deliberately allowed to have the gun.

Most people rightly blame the incompetence of the federal government for what happened at Parkland, FL according to Rasmussen polling. Using that incompetence as an excuse to encroach on the rights of citizens is just plain corrupt.

1. The government must OBEY the law in order to ENFORCE the law.
2. Molon Labe.

3. DJT just became a one term president - Now, I for one will work for DJT’s defeat.

4. BFYTW

Take the guns first, go through due process second

A Constitutional twofer: violate the 2nd and 5th Amendments simultaneously.

I don't care if President Trump is bluffing, it was a stupid thing to say. ALL of the Bill of Rights must ALWAYS be protected. If the shooter said he was acting in the name of God, should we abolished the free exercise of religion?

yes you are of course correct

there’s just too damned much money to be made by our special interest lobbies like the AMA, for us to get any progress on repairing our society and maybe actually helping people

the ragtag protesters and the DNC should take on the AMA instead of the NRA

Mission accomplished!

It was not “incompetence,” it was a planned masacre.
