We have to remember its easy to give into popular pressure.
I get why President Trump did it; he wants to be loved and popular and they’re few human beings who could take the fake news media 24/7 attack on them and he wants to show Americans he cares about keeping guns out of the hands of bad guys.
At the same, I reject totally his premise we must reject due process with regard to people who threaten to harm themselves or others. Its precisely the fact that they are going to commit an evil deed is why unpopular people need to have their rights protected.
Its what separates a civilized society from the mob. The fact that we’ve had outbreaks of mob violence at various times in American history is no excuse for it. President Trump is not even right we need to do something to suspend due process in an emergency.
An accused person has rights even if we don’t like that person. I too want to keep guns out of dangerous persons but that doesn’t mean their due process rights aren’t as important as due process for the rest of us. If anything, they are even more important.
If you don’t get that Mr. President, you don’t understand what the BOR is all about and get a clue: it ain’t about you and it ain’t about guns. Period.
Even a lot of the “normal” democrat voters are pro 2nd Amendment. I recall being at a site prior to the Gore/Bush election. Pipe-fitters, construction guys, etc. were talking about how great Gore would be (unions, helping the “common man”, etc.)
I forget now exactly what Gore had said about guns, but it was pretty anti-gun. I mentioned that to these guys. They all got really pissed and couldn’t believe it. I told them to look into it - it was true. “On the other hand - even if he does become president - I know a lot of democrats like you won’t let him do that.”

I tried to get my kids into welding, etc. I’d visit these projects as a consultant - trying to scratch out a living. It seems like those guys (welder, driller, etc.) are always talking about the week-long elk hunt they were on, and planning the trip to Wyoming for antelope!
The local and federal people had plenty of time for "due process" to stop this maniac. The Government bodies FAILED. This is what is broke and this is what needs to be worked on not changing the age of gun ownership and damn sure not going around due process.

Agree, and the President won’t talk about the progressive leftism agreement to not charge students with a long list of crimes that governed incidents in the school. That agreement was formal and included the police department, the school system and the local government. That is why Cruz passed a background check. The killings were enabled by the policy to keep students out of jail and the Obama Administration encouraged and rewarded such policies. Trump is just feeding the anti-Freedom, anti gun hysteria.

Dana Loesch is such a hypocrite calling for due process and yet she is on the air everyday doling out opinion in the public court. When individuals were being targeted for sexual harassment, she was quick to jump on that bandwagon,
All for due process in every aspect of law. Without due process it becomes a Salem Witch hunt and mob rule. Dana Loesch was quick to join on several issues I am not fond of. One being the never trumpers crusade and acts like she never signed the Glen Beck document. Once a hypocrite always a hypocrite. Just because she may have curves and long black hair does not a princess make.
What happened to due process for all Americans?
Innocent until proven guilty?
How do you know they are innocent before due process has been completed?
Is due process done in the court of Public Opinion, yeah we saw your due process on your shows.
