This information seriously undermines hopes that the IG office of DOJ will prove to be any kind of “white hat” in the upcoming report. They may well be doing simply damage control and dishonestly limiting and distorting their reporting of FBI and DOJ malfeasance.
If Sharyl Attkisson’s experiences mean anything (and they do), then the IG cannot be counted upon to do anything except try to minimize problems for DOJ with public and Congress.

What happened is obvious. They cloned her hard drive, stealing her data and should have left the Original Hard Drive. Looks like someone got sloppy and returned it with the clone.
Later, when they realized it, said she will never figure it out.
But she is one savvy Journalist!

For a long time I’ve thought it a basic rule of self-preservation that if a government agency confiscates your computer, phone or similar, [if] when they give it back then you don’t even switch on it but just get your lawyer to witness you putting it through a shredder. Maybe I’m just a cynic or something.
Please wake me when one of these “bombshells” actually results in a consequence or prosecution. That word may be the most wrongly overused word today. Every blogger uses it to try to get you to click on their stupid blog. Nothing ever comes of these “bombshells”.
The FIB is far from being cleaned up. And now, it seems, the IG is at least partially infested as well.
