It would be useful for us NON-MICHIGANDER Freepers if you provided a wee bit more information as to WHAT CMU is and WHERE it is.
The City of Mount Pleasant said in a tweet that the suspect is a black male and considered armed and dangerous. He was reportedly last seen near some railroad tracks.
"...WHAT it is and WHERE it is..."
At first I thought this referred to Carnegie Mellon University.
Shooter, reported to be armed black male in/at:
Central Michigan University, in middle of Mt. Pleasant, MI; 30,000 students. I first saw it this morning. I have a 17 year old granddaughter who goes to the hair-cutting/beauty school only about a mile away. Her school is on lock-down and she is driving home for the day, she was at a scheduled doctor appointment this morning, and is safe, so far, according to her mother(my daughter). All I know. Oh, I live by the railroad tracks about five miles from the CMU campus. The railroad runs right through the campus. Instant escape route if suspect is on foot. Sunny but cold morning. All I know.
Oh, one other thing about Mt. Pleasant; it has a Republican Chief of Police, I’ve met him several times, he’s one of us! And competent.
I appreciate the additional information on where this happend. I initially assumed it was Carnegie Melon University in Pittsburgh.
CMU = Central Michigan University, in Mt. Pleasant Michigan, literally in the center of the lower peninsula.
Yes, CMU where I live is Carnegie-Mellon University.
