President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports have many economists and lawmakers worried about a coming trade war. But workers and others in this community, where steel has been made for well over a century, see a chance for more jobs and bigger paychecks.

...

He said workers have had a wage freeze since 2014, and added, “Hopefully better wages and benefits come from this.”

“It provides breathing space for companies and workers who feel they’re teetering on the edge,” said Scott Paul, president of the Alliance for American Manufacturing, a partnership between manufacturing companies and the steelworkers union.

To win re-election, Trump must win PA.

The tariffs may not be popular with the Cheap Labor Express CoC types or the globalist crowd, but they’re popular with the forgotten workers of America.

Like those who work in our domestic steel and aluminum industries.

Trump is putting them first and its helping to MAGA.

Wonder how many Democrats in PA that didn't vote for TRUMP will be voting for him now?

Trump is attracting blue-collar workers. Their votes put him over the top in 2016.

If Trump can get the Rust Belt back on his feet, he is guaranteed re-election.

That’s exactly what he intends to do before 2020.

Bloomberg article: “Hours after Trump tweeted that “trade wars are good, and easy to win,” European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said the bloc is prepared to respond forcefully by targeting imports of Harley-Davidson Inc. motorbikes, Levi Strauss & Co. jeans and bourbon whiskey from the U.S.”

Harley - Wisconsin (Ryan)
Bourbon - Kentucky (McConnell)
Levis - California (Pelosi)

I’m thinking - levis, “yea baby”.

Lets negotiate with the EU to skip Wisconsin and Kentucky and triple the Levis tariffs!

As an oil company employee my annual bonus was over the top. DJT bought my vote unless he gets caught in a pedophile scandal, then it will be iffy.

A big part of Minnesota's economy is iron ore mining.

Perhaps that's why steel tariffs would likely be pretty popular here.

It also explains why there has been virtually no media coverage of it in Minnesota.

I did see a feature on the stripper claiming to have had an affair with Trump in this morning's paper, however.

Not to mention all the folks moving in from liberal states. Thank goodness for the panhandle. If that goes we are lost.

TRUMP would have to win it all! That's a BIG IF!

With the opposition this fired up, I don't know if TRUMP can sweep again!

The national leadership of unions are a pillar of the DNC, but the rank and file are not in lockstep with their leadership other than SEIU and the NEA. Trump is fracturing that power base with a promise he made and a promise he will keep. He picked an industry that is essential for our defense and the future, but this decision will likely impact many other industries to the benefit of American workers.

Has anyone noticed the uptick of recent articles on how the EU has been subsidizing Airbus? Interesting timing on that..... makes me wonder if something is on the horizon there? If so, it is doubtful that Boeing brass knows about it because they have been complaining about increased aluminum costs the last few days.

The pending SCOTUS decision would be the cherry on top to breaking the stranglehold the DNC has on unions. This is 3D chess (an overused term, but appropriate here) and the rank and file globalists crowd simply do not get it. The working class of America will get it.

This is the risk that any politician runs when it comes to trade policy.

U.S. trade policy basically puts two different business and citizen constituent groups against each other: Rust Belt states whose industries have been decimated in recent decades, and Great Plains states whose agricultural products make up a huge portion of U.S. exports to countries that are the targets of these tariffs on industrial products and materials.

Not just the tariffs...but the PDJT energy policy and resulting boost to feedstock for plastics.

Fossil fuel companies are among those who have ploughed more than $180bn since 2010 into new “cracking” facilities that will produce the raw material for everyday plastics from packaging to bottles, trays and cartons.

The new facilities – being built by corporations like Exxon Mobile Chemical and Shell Chemical – will help fuel a 40% rise in plastic production in the next decade, all in the USA

creating a lot of infrastructure and JOBS.

Trump just re-won Pennsylvania without spending a dollar or making one speech. Nice job.

I don't remember exactly what happened but I think I saw a Democratic Steel worker in PA say on FOX that he is voting for TRUMP now or something like that
