Fox Business host Lou Dobbs called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign on Saturday after President Trump and a number of Republicans criticized Sessions this week.
Sessions has fallen ill, he's incapacitated in some fashion, or he's been coopted or captured: to preserve any dignity, for the good of the country he needs to resign, Dobbs tweeted.
Dobbs, an outspoken supporter of the president, has been critical of the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) for their handling of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The Fox Business host shared an article tweeted by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), one of the House Republicans calling for Sessions to appoint a second special counsel to investigate the end of the Hillary Clinton email probe and alleged surveillance abuses by the FBI involving a Trump campaign adviser.
The article shared by Gaetz centered around comments he made during a Fox News appearance where he claimed that Sessions didnt answer questions from House members pressing him about appointing a second special counsel and instead deferred questions to his deputy, Rod Rosenstein.
"I did sit down with the attorney general along with [House] Judiciary Chair Bob Goodlatte [R-Va.] and many others and I was disappointed that the attorney general didnt seem to be very engaged on any of these issues regarding existential threats to the Trump administration. He was deferring to a team that answered to Rod Rosenstein, for goodness sakes," Gaetz said on Fox News.
Gaetz has called on Sessions to resign if he does not appoint a second special counsel.
Trump has repeatedly criticized his attorney general for recusing himself from the federal Russia probe.
Sessions recused himself last year after he failed to disclose meetings he had with the Russian ambassador. His recusal left Rosenstein, the No. 2 DOJ official, to oversee the special counsel investigating ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia.
The president most recently criticized Sessions on Wednesday, tweeting his displeasure with Sessions asking the DOJ's inspector general, instead of Justice Department lawyers, to investigate potential surveillance abuses.
Probably poisoned by the people he dinned with the other night
I would love to see him replaced with Giuliani who I know would make Hitlery his #1 priority but I don’t think he wants the job. This is an entire year wasted, and it really ticks me off. An entire year of these criminal rats constantly on he offensive, constant attacks attacks based on BS THEY invented and nothing is done about them.
Sessions is scum, not buying into latest BS idea that he is playing the long game.
This is actually a great idea. Sessions can resign citing health reasons. No one will lose faith, and McConnell will have no choice but to support a replacement that the President nominates.
Dobbs is no dummy. He’s one of the very. very few in the corporate media that have credibility.
Time for Sessions to retire, take his Hillary payoff money and buy that nice little lakefront estate next to Bernie Sanders.
cheese? ping
Hannity is being tough on Sessions too..
But, but, Q says trust Sessions.
Correct, Dobbs is not a dummy and people listen to him.
Oh FFS, Lou, I thought you were smart.
“....not buying into latest BS idea that he is playing the long game”.
Yes, if he was playing possum, it would have leaked out. Something like that couldn’t stay secret for long.
Sessions has been very weak all along—more worried about marijuana than the deep state. He should have been replaced long ago.
Captured? WTF?
What about the theory that Sessions is playing 4D chess and is really performing Jedi mind tricks to the MSM and Deep State that some Freepers are clinging to?
Dobbs must be in his glory with these tariffs coming on.
If Sessions was not doing his job, Trump would replace him.
I too am hoping for the scenario you, NutsOnYew, stated. I’m basing this on an experience I had in the Army, when I was one of three directorate NCOICs. There were several weekly meetings with the organization Sergeant Major (SGM), where I received a pre-meeting call from the SGM telling me that I was to “ignore” the chewing out he was going to give to the 3 of us, because I and my soldiers were doing good. He was trying to motivate the other 2 NCOICs to do their jobs properly. I hope, along with you, is that the President is playing a game with the media regarding the Attorney General.
