I just cleaned up a disaster. I started a fresh pot of coffee before posting the thread, figuring it could brew while I worked. Well, in my tiredness, I forgot to put the class carafe back in the old Mr. Coffee, so the hot coffee spilled everywhere; behind the pot, the bread box, the basket I use to store medicines, down the counter where all the utensil jars and other stuff was, and then dripped onto the throw rug by the stove. What a freakin’ mess. And worse? NO COFFEE!
So I’ve cleaned it all up, and still waiting on that first cup...
Due to my tiredness which led to gross negligence on the coffee, I’ll forgive your slight of the Yellowhammer State.
Oh you are so right AB. I recall when they said where the bird was sighted thinking that “This is where AB lives”.

You must have been channeling me. I did the same thing at work Thursday! Had to clean up the entire area forever!! World record is doing it three times in a week....
Get a new one, they’re cheap and they don’t let the coffee stream out if the carafe’s not under it.
I have an ancient non-electric drip coffee pot, it has a metal basket so no filters needed. Put grounds in basket, connect basket to water reservoir, put it on top of the pot, pour in boiling water. No worries about forgetting to shut it off.
Also prudent to set things up in the evening in case you are likely to be stumbling around in a fog in the morning. When I used Mr. Coffee, I had only enough IQ points available at 5am to turn the switch on.
