Being white, I don’t understand the “hot sauce” comment or why blacks find it offensive. I would have thought Hispanics would be the ones to feel slighted.

BBQ sauce...maybe. But this is the first I’ve heard of the “hot sauce.” Maybe people misunderstood her and she was actually referring to gin, vodka, and bourbon when she said “sauce.”

My wife, her family, and almost every black person I know uses Hot Sauce with Fried Chicken, Fried Fish, and some other select foods (Pigs Feet).

As for BBQ, the only time they use it is Ribs or grilled chicken. From my experience hot sauce is more commonly used then BBQ among Blacks.

You must be from the west coast. There’s a whole universe of cayenne-based hot sauces all across the south and even in the northeast that have nothing to do with Mexican food.
