A man was arrested and is accused of stealing Frances McDormand's Oscars trophy after the Academy Awards on Sunday night, Los Angeles police said.

Terry Bryant, 47, was arrested on suspicion of felony grand theft, said Officer Rosario Herrera, a police spokeswoman.

"After some brief time apart, Frances and her Oscar were happily reunited. They celebrated the reunion with a double cheeseburger from In-N-Out Burger," McDormand's publicist, Simon Halls, told The Associated Press.

McDormand received the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri."

The Oscar statuette was allegedly stolen during the Governors Ball after party, authorities said. Bryant had a ticket for the event, Herrera said.

This guy didn't waste any time.

How much could he have even sold it for?

He was just redistributing the wealth. Or, he considered it his participation trophy.

I doubt anyone would buy it.

Also, as I understand it the Oscar remains the property of the Academy and can not be sold without first offering it to the Academy which will buy it back for $10

There’s a pic on his Facebook page (Terry Bryant Djmatari) where he’s hanging out with his pal Mad Maxine Waters (or he’s trying to steal her purse, can’t tell).

Especially since she had it engraved.

But hey, if he had only cut off or taped up his penis, and said he identified as a woman, she might have let him have it.

Here in Maine years ago, a man found an Oscar at a yard sale.

It was awarded for best picture, I think for “An American in Paris.”

He sold it to a movie memorabilia shop in L.A., and bought a new pick up with the proceeds.

A mutual friend told me the story over 20 years ago.

Especially since she had it engraved.

She only had it for a few hours.

Has anyone gotten Meryl Streep's alibi? Because she's definitely a good enough actress to play this Terry Bryant guy.

May be true, however, if and when the Academy discovers a Oscar that has been sold they can get it back.

I once considered myself a movie buff. I have no idea who she is and I've never even heard of this movie.

Do you realize that I was quoting “Fargo”? The “and for what” is a key quote from “Fargo” by Frances McDormand.
