What's he doing there, shouldn't he be coming from Jerusalem? Not a conflict, because the City Gates and the business district are located in the neighborhood of Romema.
Lots of history there re: Edom.
Psa 118.16. The right hand of the Lord is exalted (רוממה); the right hand of the Lord does bravely:

Land (ארץ) = Romema (רוממה) = ha-Pur (הפור) = "He will heal", which is what the midrash is all about in the first place.

Okay. So on the subject of Israel's birthday, here's something fun and interesting:
Seeing that the entire Torah (and Tanakh) is enclosed within the heart (lev) - here is what is inside the heart i.e. between the bet and lamed in the alefbeit:

chet: 8
tet: 9
yud: 10
kaf: 20

Total: 72
[bet] 72 [lamed]
72 = chesed
The mathematical reasoning behind 9 (tet, the least used letter) as being the representative of truth is:
1. Emet (truth) = 441 (digital root/mispar katan = 9)
2. Multiples of 9 have the digital root of 9
Therefore truth never changes. Chesed spelled in full = 972
Mic 7.20. You will give emet to Jacob, and chesed to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old:
Israel, like Abraham, was born in 1948. Makes sense that chesed (972) was given to Abraham... it's Israel's country code.
Dial 972 for Israel. It (972) is also the sign of the covenant with Noah (keshet b'anan), which is the visible spectrum.
It's the little things.. little kernels (seeds) of truth. It's like when Joseph said, "Here is seed for you", hei lachem zerah, "[a letter] hei is a seed for you (pl.)".
As with the heart above, inside the seed (the letter hei - hei alef) is a series of letters: bet, gimel, and dalet = 2 + 3 + 4 = 9.

When the gimel is spelled with a yud (the pintele yid), the "embryonic plant" within the seed = bet 412 + gimel 83 + dalet 434 = 929, the number of chapters in the Tanakh.
Behold his name is a plant (Tzemach). The cosmos, which is in the family of stars (Asteraceae). Tsaba Mashiach Chai.
The first place in the Torah that tsaba appears, the LXX translates it as cosmos:
