Ive worked as a waiter, bartender, cook, and caddy at a country club. My hourly pay as a cook was about 10 times my hourly pay as a waiter and about 5 times my hourly wage as a bartender. As both a waiter and a bartender I made more in total than I did as a cook. As a caddy my pay was based on how many bags I carried and how many rounds I worked. The club kept nothing of the caddy fee they charged the members. Plus I got tips. Most days my tips were slightly higher than my pay from fees.
I say keep your hands off my tips!!!
A tipped employee can make a lot more money by giving excellent service than by just giving enough service to keep from getting fired.
A team of excellent waiters or bartenders can make a restaurant or bar more successful than a team of just good servers. This is good for everyone working there including the owner and the back of the house employees. A very successful house gives everyone job security and produces more profit so the owner can pay more.
I gave up tipping in states (and cities) that have the $15 minimum wage, since the tip is already built into the price.
It was a bit tough to give up something that I had done for so long, but when times change, you have to keep up with it!
I’m with you. I always tip in cash.
Nothing better to do than impose a few more regs... Did every inch of the wall get built while I was at work yesterday?
Build every inch necessary to control our border. It has been a year and all I got was a prototype.
Precisely!
That way, it's between the server and the IRS and between the server and his tip pool, if any.
Perfect.
I don’t want a perfect Wall someday. I want a barrier now. If we lay 2,000 miles of triple-strand concertina wire, that will be a good start. Then we can patrol it, start tracking the spots that America’s enemies cut/tunnel/cross, and prosecute those who interfere with protecting our borders. The wire can be laid by a small team at an impressive rate, and it will slow illegal immigration dramatically, along with showing us where the criminals are crossing. Then build the Wall and make it perfect, once we already have something.
If the topic is gratuities, politicians definitely need to be included. It’s how they mysteriously become millionaires while in office.
Having worked for tips, I personally oppose tipping altogether!
The “idea” of tipping has become totally bastardized. Tipping is EXPECTED. In some cases DEMANDED.
I tip, but I hate that I HALF TO. I hate that society and sometimes the business itself tells me how much I should “tip”.
Trump is wrong about this.
“As far as I know the system is not broke.”
That’s why the gov’t has to fix it.
Red flag, bull. Sort of like that, right.
