"When the president does it, that means it's not illegal."
President Richard Nixon
Early in the residency of Barack Obama, some activists pressured him to stop deporting illegals...
But Obama was a smart lawyer surrounded by other smart lawyers. He even boasted that he had been a Constitutional law professor. He had actually just been a part-time and untenured instructor, but he still knew that the president had no authority to ignore the immigration laws.
According to the New York Times and Washington Post, he clearly said so... at least 17 times.
But then he did it anyway.
...
He was right the first 17 times, and wrong the 18th. The president has no authority to ignore laws he doesn't like. Section 3 of the Constitution specifically requires that the president "take care that the laws be faithfully executed." In his oath of office, the president swears to "faithfully execute the office of President of the United States."
...
Obama got away with ignoring the law because the people who are supposed to stand guard over our Constitution the media, law school professors (the real ones) and the rest of the liberal establishment elites liked the result. They liked granting amnesty to illegals.
My point today is not to debate ... whether the Dems should have addressed the matter early in Obama's first term when they held super-majorities in both houses of Congress
...
If a president can ignore the laws defending the borders against a million people crossing them illegally, is there any law he cannot ignore?
...
can a president use the national security apparatus to conduct surveillance of opposing politicians? Can a president direct the IRS to scrutinize the tax filings of political activists who he doesn't like? ... whitewash a FBI investigation

A great read!
If we had an opposition party they could have sued in 2012 when he announced the illegal DACA program to stop it before it got started.
Too bad we did not have an opposition party.
Of course if we had an opposition party, Obama would never have been President, he is not a natural born citizen.
Barack Obama was a Constitutional Law professor in the same way that someone who demolishes buildings has to have a good understanding of architecture.
Thank you! The only “smart” thing he did was expose the cowards in the GOPe.
“Accuse your enemies of doing what you’re doing”. The Dems and the media are taking Lenin’s advice.
I am aware of only two utterances by the POF anywhere close to truth...Re “Clingers...” and that our present Con is “deeply flawed”!
(And he was not nearly the first to point these out!)
GunnyG@PlanetWTF?
TRUMP.45 IF We Can Keep Him?
*******************************
We let an ineligible usurper almost destroy our country.
BOTH parties colluded to violate the Constitution.
Has any other president been slapped down 13 times by unanimous SCOTUS decisions?
But Obama was a smart lawyer surrounded by other smart lawyers
Obama was NOT a Lawyer, neither was his Wife
+1000!
RE: “Barack Obama was a Constitutional Law professor in the same way that someone who demolishes buildings has to have a good understanding of architecture.”
For two politically connected black Harvard Law grads in 1990s Chicago to both have voluntarily disbar themselves (for different reasons) is kind of a stunning event that cannot be explained by mere incompetence and ethical problems alone.
They had to really screw up bad with a serious combination of malpractice combined with major ethical or criminal misconduct
<< If we had an opposition party they could have sued in 2012 when he announced the illegal DACA program to stop it before it got started.

They announced the DACA program ahead of any Congressional Bills or Laws or Executive Orders (”I have a pen and a phone”). Then it was never voted on or signed as anything.
The Dems started acting on it like it was settled law and people just accepted DACA.
He just kind of showed up and the rest of the faculty was like, WTF?
Michele Obama was fired from her associate position at a prestigious Chicago law firm reportedly because of malpractice and misconduct in a legal case. The circumstances are sealed by the court ordered settlement in which she agreed to voluntarily surrender her license to practice law
Just another one of those things about the Obama's past the press has worked very hard to ignore
Sorry, no worse than Pres. Trump ‘extending’ the illegal DACA program/EO.
Yet, ONLY then did the (R) come out of the woodwork to ‘do *SOMETHING*’; but quickly let it die on the vine once the fever pitch again receded. Not while they were in the opposition; the (R)N(C) LIED to our faces and went along with the program.
I suspect we’ll be hearing more about the ‘dreamers’ from the WH in the near future and, $ to donuts, it won’t be about enforcing the Law.
The states successfully sued to stop DAPA, Obama’s second illegal amnesty for illegal aliens.
If the GOP had sued to stop DACA when it was started, we would not be dealing with it now.
They wanted amnesty, too, anyway they could get it.
This article was a good read until he stepped on his narrative by including President Trump in his “So here we are. We live in a dictatorship. Our two dictators so far Obama and Trump . . .”
Ophonybama WAS a dictator, and he and his fellow travelers are not out of the legal woods just yet. I hope and pray that Ophonybama and every person who was in his inner circle will eventually spend a considerable portion of the rest of their lives in SuperMax prison cells!
Fortunately, We the People elected Donald J. Trump, and ended the Ophonybama dictatorship. I shudder to think what would be our situation 14 months into a Hitlery the venomous, noxious harridan!
President Trump is not a dictator, and as time goes on, he will prove it, again and again!
