ary D. Cohn, President Trumps top economic adviser, plans to resign, becoming the latest in a series of high-profile departures from the Trump administration, White House officials said on Tuesday.
The officials insisted there was no single factor behind the departure of Mr. Cohn, who heads the National Economic Council. But his decision to leave came after he seemed poised to lose an internal struggle amid a Wild West-style process over Mr. Trumps plan to impose large tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
Gary has been my chief economic adviser and did a superb job in driving our agenda, helping to deliver historic tax cuts and reforms and unleashing the American economy once again, Mr. Trump said in a statement to The New York Times. He is a rare talent, and I thank him for his dedicated service to the American people.
Mr. Cohn is expected to leave in the coming weeks. He will join a string of recent departures by senior White House officials, including Mr. Trumps communications director and a powerful staff secretary.

Kudlow is Free Traitor, Yuck.
You hit the ten ring. This country can produce, design or build almost anything. Like Trump says, no problem trading, it's just we're not going to get looted anymore.
I thought that, too, but wasn’t sure. Thanks.
Enough of this stupid Sessions posting, He has the presidents confidence and this childish “I want him to do what I say” stuff is old and moldy.
If The prez has him there I am happy, if you do not like it I lose no sleep
Grow up
If you were a Trump fan from day 1 I’m sure you would have heard his 45% tax speech. This isn’t even Trump all in yet. Relax, companies that don’t want to be taxed in the biggest market will build locally or pressure other nations to lift their taxes. If they go the other way then ...as I said, Trump isn’t all in yet. If you didn’t think this was his position then you obviously weren’t listening

About 8,000 steelworkers have lost their jobs in Mexico in the last two years, 5,000 of them this year alone, as a result of cheap Chinese steel imports.

Go look at my anti-Gary Cohn posts from a year ago.
Bottom Line - why did Trump hire a New York City Democrat to be his top economic adviser in the first place?
It don’t matter a whit to me. I voted for Trump, not Cohn. He’s gone, deal with it.
A number of folks worry that Trump will be negatively swayed and/or controlled by folks he has around him - yet those who try to do the controlling seem to be the ones that end up leaving....
Neither. Which are you?
Well, lets hope that the Mexicans and the President can joing in resisting the Chinese market incursions via dumping.
Rofl. Dems are already raging about imaginary Russian meddling. Nobodys listening anymore.
Libs wouldnt be libs if they werent raging about non existent travesties.
Oops. Wrong thread.
I'm glad to be rid of Cohn - listening to his advice would probably lead to a repeat of the 2008 financial crisis or something worse.
Unfortunately, we won't be rid of Jared and Ivanka's malign liberal influence in the White House - oddly enough, even they have their fanbase on this site. I support the political and economic agenda that Trump ran on and will continue to do so. That doesn't mean that I owe his friends and family members my political loyalty.
Did you even read my post?
I was anti-Gary Cohn from his first day.
Bottom Line - if Conservatives do not hold Trump responsible for his own appointments, who will?
Clearly, you don't.
Wasn’t he championed by Jared and Ivanka? I’m glad he’s leaving. Let’s get someone who actually supports the man he works for. (What a concept.)
I haven't heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Another liberal bullet we dodged was having Scaramucci as WH communications director.
Im glad hes leaving. Lets get someone who actually supports the man he works for. (What a concept.)
Or, more to the point than personal loyalty, isn't it time we had a White House cabinet who actually supports the American nationalist agenda that got Trump elected?
