Gravis Marketing Final PA CD18 Special Election Poll Results (Saccone 45% to 42%)
Gravis Marketing ^ | March 7, 2018 | Aaron Booth

Posted on 03/07/2018 7:47:39 AM PST by 11th_VA

On Tuesday, March 13th, voters in Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District will go to the polls in what has become the highest profile special election since Doug Jones beat Roy Moore in December. Gravis Marketing has released their third and final poll in this race. The Likely voter poll, conducted March 1st-5th, shows the race continuing to tighten into a toss-up. The poll uses the same demographic model as the previous two Gravis Marketing polls of the race.

The State Representative Rick Saccone now leads former assistant U.S. Attorney Connor Lamb 45%-42%. The previous poll in February had Saccone up 45%-40%, and the first poll in January showed Saccone up 46%-34%. The race has undeniably tightened as Saccone’s support has been frozen in the 45%-46% range while Lamb’s support has climbed from 34% to 42%. While Saccone remains the favorite to win this race, there is a clear path to victory for Lamb. 13% of likely voters remain undecided.

Saccone is currently pulling 4% of Clinton voters while Lamb is taking 13.1% of Trump voters. Saccone, however, takes 16% of Democrat compared to Lamb’s 12.3% of Republicans. Lamb holds a 46%-27% lead over independent voters.

Donald Trump’s approval rating has taken a slight hit in the district over the three polls showing only a slight trend downward from 54%-39% in January to 49%-42% in the first week of March. Governor Wolf has remained stable and currently sits at 33%-47% in the district. Senator Casey’s numbers have also remained static and are currently at 33%-38%.

Independent voters likely look at Saccone and think “He looks a little sleazy, and since he’s in the PA Legislature we know he probably IS sleazy. And a Republican in this seat just lied to us about what he believed for twenty years, so are we really willing to vote for this guy?”

It’s not fair but I’m pretty sure that’s what they think.

How any true Republican can vote for a Democrat is beyond me.

The true Republicans are voting for Saccone. The problem is Lamb's 46-27 lead among independents. That's lethal.

True Republicans range from hard core Trumpkins to never-Trumpers to a lot of people who preferred someone else in the primaries but are trying to make the best of the situation. Most people in all three of these groups will vote for Saccone. But that's not enough to win.

We have to win over enough of the independent vote to get over the top. Independents by and large are idiots. Some of them are right-leaning, some of them are left-leaning, but relatively few of them have strong ideological positions. And a lot of them are simply embarrassed by Trump's vulgarities and exhausted by the endless drama. This is why Republicans are getting killed in the soccer mom and similar demographics.

So the Dem strategy for 2018 Midterms is to pretend to be Republicans?

Nope. Wrong on all counts.

They voted for Trump to get action, finally, from a poltical/media/business system that has mocked, or ignore, them for 30 years.

Instead they got the standard do nothing GOP-E establishment in Congress killing any real progress on anything for them.

But “GOP-E Congress is great”.

Perhaps as long as you ask them for nothing but tax cuts that their donor class can cash in on, or spending like Democrats, so their donor class can cash in on those goverment contracts.

The GOP-E is losing because once again they demonstrate a complete lack of anything resembling a spine.

Meanwhile the Demcorat candidates are successfully pretending to “conservative” on the campaign trail because the GOPE is not putting them in a postion they have to actualy stand FOR or AGAINST anything because NOTHING is being done.

Same problem every time GOP-E gets in power at the national or state level. Habitual poltical cowards, they try to hide out and do nothing.

Exactly. Hard to read that and not scratch your head.

Maybe the Independents are really Dems who can’t admit it.

He is getting independents by pretending to be a Conservative.

Same thing Dem did in 2006. Stupid independents never learn

Dems will tell you what ever you want to hear on the campaign trail and then go to DC vote as good little radical leftist stooges.

The GOP faithful are going to talk themselves into electing Democrats because they don’t like the GOPe. It’s self destructive.

I'm sure the Democrats are saying that about those who vote Republican.

Within the defense industry right now it is really big deal.

Is there any evidence that the current domestic steel and aluminum industries are having problems meeting our defense needs?

About 90% of the comments relative this posting are nothing but pure hogwash. Only God knows who is posting them, to depress Saccone voters. The same tactics & postings were put forth during the Texas primary and did not work at all.

Bottom Line: The only thing that counts is “Turnout, turnout, turnout”. Forget the BS gabbing & babble. and get out and vote for Rick Saccone on election day next Tuesday, and support the POTUS, Trump rally this coming weekend!!! Case closed!!!

No the GOPE refusing to learn that voters elected Trump for a reason are going to destroy themselves. They are destroying themslves by refusing to learn the lesson of 2016 with this “do nothing ever” habitual poltical cowardice.

Dems are fired up while the GOPE is doing NOTHING to get the GOP base to the polls.

Yeah, an African Muslim that incited African riots, represented the Muslim world against US citizens, allowed queers in the military to share a shower, and sent 1.6 billion in cash to the #1 Muslim terrorist country in the solar system. Furthermore he reset the rules of engagement that intentionally got many of our soldiers sent to certain death. Yeah, they are equivalent all right. Did you know Trump is a republican?

That worked really, really well for them in 2006. If they don't it will only because the extreme wacko Leftists who now control that party won't let them.

Yes within the community. Quality is the issue.

If the quality of American steel is an issue then a tariff isn't going to help that.
