No that does not automatically leave it up to the states to decide. The 10th amendment delegates power to either the states OR the people. It doesn’t spell out which has what power.

People who argue that secession is legal always leave out the people and pretend states retain all powers.

Um, it’s called a state wide referendum. If they, the people, say yes to secession then its bye bye.

No its not bye bye. People who were against secession were deprived of their liberty and in many cases their lives.

That’s called tyranny.

That’s not inclusive of “the people”. There are citizens of other states that had vested interests. That’s why unilateral secession is unconstitutional.

The Founders were secessionists, no, Mr. Sessions?

No, they were rebels who stood up to tyranny.

“Funny, I don’t see the word “secession” anywhere in Lincoln’s speech. References to “rebellion”, sure.”

Rather than old friends debating what the meaning of the word “is” is, let’s stipulate for the purpose of this post that Lincoln in his speech as a congressman did, in fact, endorse rebellion.

Lincoln later violently opposed, by your telling, what he had earlier endorsed - rebellion.

Even by your terminology, Lincoln’s inconsistency was deadly.
