To: Tac Double Tap

How much is your trade deficit with your local grocer, maybe your car dealer? Your logic is flawed that somehow trade needs to equal out. I should be able to buy at a price I agree to with anyone in the world. It is none of the governments business that they think I pay to little for a product. Are you a free person or aren’t you? Just another form of welfare, raise my prices in taxing a product so it can be transferred to a friend of government. My company has a huge trade deficit with me, I sell my labor for an obscene rate and buy little of their product.

Good response to the perennial "trade deficit" complaint we keep hearing from people who have never thought it out thoroughly.

The great Walter Williams has elaborated on that very subject many times in the last 30 or 40 years.

But then he's only an economist, what does he know? <\sarc>
