Granted, East Austin (Mexico del Norte) is being gentrified. With the ridiculously high housing prices and equally ridiculously high property taxes, first time home buyers are going in and remodeling the older run down homes. If Amazon picks Austin as their HQ2, there will be even less housing available.
So what? Their area of town is now hot real estate. And sounds like leeches wanna remain there but live under the old price structure.

In other words, they want to keep east Austin poor. Socialists want to keep property owners from making money on their investments.
They're not just going to halt it, they're going to reverse it.
An excellent business opportunity for an enterprising person in Austin to become a contractor and work for the city f--king up newly renovated buildings and turning them back in to sh!tholes. Imagine how much fun it would be to get paid to vandalize a building.
If I was younger and did not live so far away I might go for it myself.
Also, it is very important for liberals to keep neighborhoods racially segregated. Without racial segregation, racial gerrymandering of voting districts is impossible.

It’s easy to reverse gentrification in Austin. Appoint Broward County Sheriff Scott J. Israels as Chief of Police for Austin and tell him to implement the same policies which brought him fame in Florida.

I will never live in a city that has an “Institutional Racism and Systemic Inequities Task Force”. The day something like that gets announced is the day the for sale sign goes up.
