You guys are still reacting to what 0 team members are saying, rather than why they are saying it (or anything at all) in the very first place.

Step back and consider that each of them is guilty on numerous counts of espionage and treason. The evidence is overwhelming & incontrovertible. So their only possible defense - not that one truly exists - it to position themselves as victims of political persecution.

As they are on record of criticizing Trump, they can try to portray subsequent legal prosecution as nothing more than petty retaliation waged against them by, you guesses, it unbalanced and vindictive tyrant.

From a defense perspective, it's actually pretty clever. From a game playing perspective, it's nothing more than the opponent figuratively tipping their king.
