French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday warned his US counterpart Donald Trump against forging ahead with planned tariffs on European steel and aluminium, saying it risked starting a mutually destructive “trade war”.

In a telephone call with Trump, the French leader expressed his “deep concerns”, saying the tariffs due to come into effect in two weeks “risk triggering a trade war, in which all affected countries would be losers”, Macron’s office said.

He also argued that “such measures against allied countries, who respect international trade rules, would not be effective in fighting unfair practices”, and said the European Union would respond in a “clear and proportionate manner to all practises that are unfair or contrary to international trade rules”. EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström has said the bloc is “counting on being excluded”, but Brussels has already drawn up a list of American products to target for countermeasures if its exports are affected. …

Macron warns Trump all sides would lose in 'trade war'

It seems that on EVERY move that isn't the status quo for the past forty years, so called "experts" scurry out like roaches to "warn" against the action, but somehow President Trump keeps WINNING!

Hilarious coming from a guy whose country embargoes virtually all US motor vehicles to protect Peugeot and Citroen.

Driving in France you never see anything but those cars and some German (!) manufacturers. Seeing a Chevrolet would be like a Unicorn sighting.

“risk triggering a trade war, in which all affected countries would be losers”, Macron’s office said.

This trade war has been going on for over 30 years and our leaders have been selling out America since they started it to the tune of Hundreds of Billions of Dollars every year and Millions of unemployed and closed factories and such....

There’s not a lot that we really need and can’t make ourselves - and if we lost it, we should use this opportunity to rebuild it. Be nice to be making clothes and footwear again.

All this talk of trade war. ..... It will be trade raids

Very selective offers if refused will actually be blood letting. Very few troops will be involved, if any

It is mind-boggling how few see the endgame - Trump is not entering in a full blown trade war. He is sending a clear message that the old rules are dead and the new rules will be fair. They need us more than we need them and Trump knows it so he is making a definitive statement regarding everything - not just steel and aluminum.

We could not have elected a more disruptive personality to the White House and I am enjoying it immensely. The media has really not paid attention to 90% of what he has done, which is a real transformation of our nation back to what it was supposed to be. I only hope more Americans will grudgingly realize this and respect what he is doing by November.

I never would have believed that this kind of reset would happen in my lifetime or the lifetime of my children. I honestly did not think Trump would be able to do 1/4 of what he has done and definitely did not believe this kind of blitzkrieg was possible in a year with the congress we have. It is amazing and he has redirected his haters in the media just as brilliantly as he has implemented his agenda.

At this point - he has fulfilled more promises than any “politician” I have ever seen and he is just getting started.

We’ve been in a trade war since NAFTA, and on the losing side. If you refuse to fight a war, you lose.

Why should a Harley Davidson motorcycle sell for $250,000 in China? Screw that.
Let’s have Fair Trade.

It’s about time we really find out if both sides will suffer. I have a hunch we have very little to lose.

Macron warns Trump all sides would lose in ‘trade war’

What he’s missing is that we’re America and still great, in spite of 40 years of the leftists trying to destroy us.

Refuse to sell us Product X? Fine. We’ll start making Product X. Then we get to employ people to make Product X. And, you know what, we’ll make Product X BETTER than you ever could, because we’re better than you are.

I want the America I grew up in back, and there’s no reason we shouldn’t have it. And we owe that realization to our President.
