Unfortunately it takes “forever”.
That’s how long the gun-controllers have been working at it. It’s how long domestic enemies have been working for the downfall of the US. Can we do less? What happens if we do less?
No, I agree we should “resist”. But the total one-party control in IL means if Mike Madigan doesn’t want your bill to go anywhere he just refers it to committee where it stays forever - the rules say it can’t even be debated on the House floor. So the Republican members from downstate IL have their hands tied, no matter how strongly they believe in the same things we do, they don’t have the power to do anything about it.
The NRA can, and should. Others can go to the courts and fight this and I’m sure they will, but that “takes forever” too.
My point is that meanwhile, every time they undercut and over-reach, more people are affected negatively. Lots of democrats like to hunt and own guns, and they’re not going to like this any more than we do. As they slowly break away from supporting the Chicago machine the odds of taking back the state gradually improve.
