do people in Illinois have to get a permit from the state before they can even buy a gun? believe you have to in Maryland, the Freak State.
bet the compliance is around 10% like every other place this has been tried.

You have to have a FOID card to purchase a gun in IL at a gun shop. Private transactions...I don’t how good the compliance is for that.

You have to have a FOID (Firearms Owner’s Identification Card, issued by the State Police) card to legally own/buy firearms or ammunition if you are an Illinois resident. The FOID doesn’t list which firearms, if any, you own. It just gives you “permission” to own them.

So every FOID card holder under the age of 21 can be checked on.
