I’ve known blacks who were deeply Christian. Excellent people.
But most black Christians who I have known are just doing race hustling in a different way. Obama’s pastor Jeremiah Wright is hardly unique. If that’s the sort of thing you hope to find in church, then a white church just won’t do.
I’m so glad the NY Times is concerned about Christians, what about all the White people who felt uncomfortable going to Rev. Farrakhan’s church.
How many white people still attend Rev. Jesse Jackson’s church? Does Rev Al Sharpton minister to White people at his church?
Looks like black nationalism is on a roll. The Obama strateragy of dividing America into racial camps has begun.
How do we combat that?
whenever anyone is involved in violence, roll them up, try them and jail them.
Its simple.
Its raaacism!
Liberals blame every shortcoming of evangelical Christianity on racism or being conservative.
Why am I not surprised. This is after all, the NYT.
After reading the story today about the NY Times editor that has an Obama doll in her purse, nothing surprises me what stories these clowns come up with.
"...white pastors fail to address police shootings of African-Americans."
"...open hostility to N.F.L. players protesting police brutality..."
If people are leaving churches that preach the truth, covering all aspects of life in the 21st century, in the light of the everlasting, timeless Word of God — it’s because they can’t handle the truth.
Perhaps they’d rather go where they can hear someone who is pouring gasoline on the flames of race-rustling hate.
I’ve encountered senior pastors that don’t seem to be committed Christians and I track it back to the 1960s when draft deferments were given to seminary students. I think the younger ones then who went on to work in churches found it easy and relatively lucrative, so they stayed and preached politics and social gospel. They have watered down Christianity to a social issue presentation in many cases.
The divide seems to have formed over political expectations.
Summed up, white churches are not feeling the guilt over slavery and Jim Crow, and are not talking asking forgiveness for stuff they did not do.
White churches are not sufficiently beating the Social Justice drum.
White churches are not buying into the Bad Policeman narrative. Dude ambushes five Dallas policemen and they want to talk about bad policemen next time they get together?
White churches are not wanting bigger government.
White churches do not vote for leftist, pro-abortion, big government candidates.
So black people are leaving. It’s not about doctrine.
Is there a quiet exodus of white people leaving black churches? Oh wait, my bad.....
Because they’re racists.
It cuts both ways.
We drift into groups that are more like us culturally. If the NFL protests and BLM are what matters to them more than the Gospel, they wouldn’t fit in my church.
And we are by far not all Republicans.
I have never seen a church of “white evangelicalism”.
The church I attend has a mixture of people, and a fair amount of racially mixed couples and people of every sort of racial mixture.
Water is wet, and fake news is fake.
What happened? Obama happened. You’ll note the NYTimes cites the 2012 study and 1998 study - that includes ALL of W’s tenure along with the race baiting that came along with Katrina.
It’s funny that she’s OK with white churches when she thinks they’re voting for Obama but NOT when they voted for Trump (yes it’s ok for her side to vote for the atheist communist)
BS on its face and if she’s picking churches based on her politics and NOT what the church is teaching then she’s going about it all wrong anyway.
Catholic Churches I have been in are diverse.
Why do you think the left hates the evangelicals so much out of all the different churches? Because they were the driving force behind the end of slavery, civil rights, the vote for blacks and women.
My days of feeling any “white guilt” over the plights of blacks in America are long gone.
Out of wedlock child bearing, affirmative action, multi-generational welfarism, burning Lost Angeles down twice, crime, filthy music, and Obama did me in.
The first black President could have meant a lot,, but he failed most assuredly. (of course because of him, what he believed, etc.)
New York Times.
What a joke.
Jesus has told us unbelievers hate us because they hate him. When I hear hate from anyone claiming to be a believer I know they live for someone other than Jesus Christ.
Politics of we must elect democrats comes from deceived unbelievers.
