NEENAH, Wis. - At the Winnebago County Highway Department, a memorial for two men is a reminder of two employees and two family members who are gone too soon.
"Today it's been 12 years since he's been gone," Susan Tiffany said.
Tiffany lost her brother, Dan Melhorn, on March 7, 2006. Melhorn, along with his partner and friend, Marc Neumeyer, got killed working along Interstate-41.
"My sister told me and I just went, 'no, no'," Tiffany said.
Tiffany said that after her brother's death, she drives extra slow through work zones. She's not alone in hoping others will follow.
Local law enforcement said these two deaths are a reminder for drivers that when they enter a work zone like this, they need to move over or slow down.

PING!
Played some gigs there.
Know of a person who was struck in a construction zone, many months in hospital and rehab, still not right and will never be and the perp was never caught. A##es on cell phones are a big cause of this, you might as well be drunk driving just as bad
Senseless deaths.
Slow down and watch out for the workers. They are someone’s spouse, sibling, child, parent or friend.
Pretend they’re YOURS.
TSR, you’re on top of these highway safety (or lack of) stories. Good job. Needs to be done.
Hmmm...another example of homosexuals having a shorter life span...
Good advice. The people working there are just everyday people like us, made of flesh and blood. They have families and loved ones like we all do. Like the signs say "give them a brake".
And perhaps equally important, it will save a whole lot of horrible legal and financial trouble, trouble that could have easily been avoided.
In my numerous times working ing the streets of S, Fla. we used a surefire way to move cars over,
A 4-6foot 2x4 with numerous drilled holes in wide side, with 1/8_ rubber cord through those holes. Laid down with 6” of cord showing(looks like nails) , drivers noticed and moved over! It worked better than signs!
Idea of a fine man, named Kellerman(RIP).
Another needless death from a drunk on the freeway. Bruce Penhall’s son.

A friend of my daughters boyfriend was just struck by a drunk also. Lost his leg from the knee down.
