Senior administration officials expressed confidence Sunday that President Trump would not be taken advantage of by North Korea's Kim Jong Un before and during any direct talks, but critics suggested the president's impulsiveness and inexperience could spell disaster if a meeting between the two leaders proceeds as planned.
Trump would be the first sitting U.S. president to hold talks with a North Korean leader if he follows through on the decision Thursday to accept an invitation to meet with Kim. Amid rising tension over Pyongyang's nuclear and ballistic programs, the two leaders had exchanged a series of threats and insults in recent months.

I do believe that President Ronald Reagan knew what he was talking about.
This is a win/win for Trump. Trump is shown as genuinely doing something about NK and communicating directly to their leader what is at stake.
Worst case — Trump agrees to some sham deal and we lift sanctions and the Norks keep doing what they’re doing. Later we detect this and slap sanctions back on. Not desirable but not that much worse than doing nothing.
Best case - we get Norks to slow down a bit on their nuke program. That’s certainly better than the status quo.
I see no way the Norks completely give up their nukes. But we can hope.
To me it is a simple thing. Talk to NK and don’t pretend or keep it “hush hush”.
The Democraps keep everything quiet and when it blows up have no answer.

I say that he should meet with KJU in Oslo, so he can pick up his first Nobel Peace Prize at the same time without having to make a special trip. Then he can come back for the next one for Iran.

Hey Princess Gray Beaver, not having an “ambassador,” and having a “decimated State Department” is a plus in trying to fix this 1950’s problem. The “experts” you suggest are needed have had three quarters of a century to “fix” the NK problem and we can all see just how “successful” they’ve been!
