Just speculation at this point.

Positive thinking, but just speculation.

The court should have been loaded with originalists and textualists for the last 40 years, but the media and progressive Republican presidents, like Richard Nixon, filled it with Progressive jurists.

Let Schumer be seen laying into a black woman on national television!

Remember Justice Thomas?

Just because a person is female and of dark skin tone does not mean they are a black woman.

Only Progressives can be “authentic” blacks or women.

not as much as replacing Ginsberg would.
Ginsberg isn't the only Sleeping Beauty who sat on the SC. I remember my 11th Grade history teacher telling us young skulls full of mush that William O. Douglas was known to fall asleep in the middle of deliberations. Even though he was hopelessly liberal I seriously wonder if Roe v Wade would've turned out differently if the old fart was just a little more attentive?

Trump needs to appoint someone who will vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

I was for the life of me trying to figure out why RBG did not retire under Obama’s watch. It finally dawned on me that she was waiting for Hilary to be the one to name her replacement.

It is such sweet justice that RBG does not have that option. Now she has to try to tough it out for the next 7 years under Trump. I don’t think that she is going to be able to do it. You think having Trump replace Kennedy, is going to be sweet, just wait until he gets to replace RBG.

Now that is going to be an epic day in the history of the U.S. I do not wish her ill, but it is quite evident to all that she is being propped up by her clerks, and at this point is only a figurehead, and that her staff are actually writing her decisions. I don’t think that she is going to make it for the next 6 + years.

The Dems are going to throw the biggest fit we ever saw. I am going to say it now. They are going to tell Trump that he has to appoint a liberal to keep the SCOTUS “balanced”. Trump is going to laugh so hard at even the thought that they would even ask. But I really do think that they are desperate that they will attempt it.

Now a question. What if RBG is deemed incapable of fulfilling the abilities of her position, but tries to keep her position on the court. Is there a provision in the Constitution for that situation. You know, that the Dems will do anything, short of stuffing her like a game animal to prevent Trump from appointing her replacement.

Maybe most of the bench will go with him, Ginsburg especially.

I despise Heller as much as Lyn’ Ted. At least as Nevada resident I can vote against him in the primary and either sit out or vote for the Dem in the fall. Either way, getting rid of Heller is key goal here in Nevada. I don’t know where is base of support is but I have never met anyone supporting him except as a ‘better than Dem’ choice. Sad.

Challenge is getting credible candidates. Moore was always problematic, and he was not prepared to honestly address his dating habits, which is odd since his wife was the result of his young dating.

No. The Notorious RBG would remain a Justice, but would simply never vote. The only Constitutional provisions dealing with inability are about the Presidency (e.g., Sections 3 and 4 of the 25th Amendment).

I think the only way we get a replacement justice is ‘death do us part’. These are life appointments and they are not quitting. Don’t really blame them. If I was on the bench, I wouldn’t quit either.

If a justice is still breathing they have their seat if they want to keep it. Life appointment means just that.

Re “I’d rather RBG just drop dead and then Kennedy retire later”.

So do I but old red bitches never die before their destructive time on earth is up so I hope that Kennedy retires, dies, or does a Judge Crater disappearing act.

We need sanity and lawfulness on the Supreme Court.

If Ginsburg wants to be a “Supreme”, lend her a dime to call Diana Ross.

Will Trump nominated a judge who supports the Second Amendment, or will we get another left leaning mystery appointment?

last time we tried to cantorize someone, we ray moored ourselves in the foot.

We didn't shoot ourselves in the foot. Mitch McConnell spent well over ten million dollars to destroy Judge Moore and it worked. McConnell fired a shot across our bow telling us to get back in line and vote for the Swamp, or else.

Anthony Kennedy - age 81
Clarence Thomas - age 69 (a good justice, but I’d like to see him replaced with a 50 y/o conservative)
Ruth Bader Ginsburg - age 84
Stephen Breyer - age 779
Samuel Alito - age 67 (a good justice, but I’d like to see him replaced with a 50 y/o conservative)
John Roberts - age 63 (a treasonous justice, responsible for the worst ruling in many decades, and I’d like to see him replaced with a loyal American 50 y/o conservative)
[Imagine President Trump appointing six more justices!]

Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan - young communists, aged 63 and 57, and we’re stuck with them
Neil Gorsuch - age 50, so far, so good
