Mueller's new fishing hole: 'Conspiracy to defraud the government'
American Thinker ^ | March 13, 2018 | Rick Moran

Posted on 03/13/2018 12:02:41 PM PDT by detective

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is invoking a new charge in his Captain Queeg search for the lost strawberries. He is looking to tie Trump and his aides to a "conspiracy to defraud the government charge."

What makes this such a stretch is that Mueller apparently doesn't have to tie it to a criminal action. This puts a lot more of Trump's aides in danger of being ensnared in Mueller's ever widening net.

Mueller has found nothing on Trump.

Now he is engaging in yet another phony fishing expedition.

Crimes with no underlying crimes.

Democrats and “progressives” approve ... just so long as those accused aren’t (D)ifferent.

HA, if this is to be a viable charge anywhere then there are vast numbers of Demoncraps and MSM types who openly toil at undermining any govt functions which do not serve Libtard interests.

The people in power need to realize we have too many laws.

No one is safe in such a legal environment, not even the powerful.

If I were Trump, (because Sessions won't do anything) I would hire SC for U1. Then the SC would subpoena Muledog.

When you have absolutely nothing you reach for a Conspiracy charge. I was under the impression that they only really used this for narcotics cases. DEA goes up on a wire and they slam, conspiracy charges, on damn near anyone that called the target, just so they can get them to testify against the target. More of an intimidation than actual charge.

But, then again, the Left was able to change the definition of, IS. They were able to change the definition of, INTENT. And they’ll probably be able to mutate this law, to suit their needs.

Conspiracy also can include conspiring to defeat a government regulation. Trump has got to shut this down, NOW. He has the backing of the intel committee, there is nothing to the original charge. This POS is going all over the map trying to find something to upturn a valid election. This is tantamount to treason.

A large majority of Moran's article consists, as most of his articles do, of an excerpt from another source. This time it's the Washington Times.

What happened to Russian Collusion? Heck, Sessions didn’t need to recuse himself if they were going to go fishing outside of Russia.

The American People will throw up on anything that Mueller finds that does not involve “Russian Collusion.” The dems and the MSM created their own mess by going so far and all in on collusion. In the minds of the public that is what Mueller is synonymous with, finding collusion. For him to craft something else not even remotely related will not get the democrats anywhere.

Let’s say that the democrats manage to win in November. They won’t win enough Senate seats to convict and no, I don’t buy that there will be enough GOPe turncoats that will vote to impeach on anything less than a charge involving collusion. Within weeks their internal poll numbers will tell them that they are doomed come 2020 if they waste time impeaching Trump on a charge that is not related to the supposed mission of the special counsel.

First and foremost, if they impeach Trump their base will accept nothing short of removal. Failing that, their base stays home in 2020. That will not happen and absent that, what is it all for? Secondly, the American People will see the consequences of an impeachment, and one not based on the collusion that they were sold so hard on. They will see a now booming economy tank, the markets tank, etc. and with this President fighting back, they will know who to blame.

Okay. What is conspiring to defeat a government regulation? Not trying to be a smartass, because you and I agree this is ridiculous. But, conspiring to defeat a govt regulation, is that like sending a lobbyist to Capitol Hill so they can meet with a member of Congress and voice their opposition against a regulation? Is that like lobbyists at a fundraiser talking to someone from Congress about how bad a bill will be for this/that industry?

Someone will get rolled up by this, for sure. But, if this is all Mueller has, then he has nothing. At this point, it seems to me that the President is going to let him fall flat on his face and then embarrass and shame him all day, all night. Can you imagine the tweets about how much time and money they’ve wasted, to get a few plea bargains on unrelated stuff. And then, when Manafort spanks that ass, the President is going to have a field day. Throw on the fact that Flynn will probably walk away a free man and it will be epic.

‘If I were Trump, (because Sessions won’t do anything) I would hire SC for U1.’

Mueller would love that. It would enable him to open a fourth (4th) obstruction investigation against Trump.

Mueller is literally investigating Trump for a thought crime. Evidently, at some point Trump *thought* about firing Mueller. Mueller is investigating that as a crime of obstruction.

How can this be turned on Mueller to put him at risk?

Right now, he probably thinks he is completely untouchable.

The problem is if he actually charges someone with a bogus crime some trumphater federal judge will probably buy it and if the Court of Appeals is one Obama packed the case has to go to the Supreme Court before the rule of law is restored. How many individuals can stand up to that?

“Conspiracy to defraud the government”

This describes the investigation to a tee.
