Tillerson was also the guy who decided on allowing gay Scoutmasters into the Boy Scouts of America, so his take on other issues likely varied from Trump - he was against moving the Embassy to Jerusalem, and in favor of keeping the Iran Deal, to name a few.
I guess you didn't notice the T-Rex opposed every major policy position that Trump took including moving the embassy to Jerusalem.
On another note Rush said there is chatter that Tillerson was trying to build an alliance with the Euroweenies to force Trump to stay signed on to the Iran deal.
You are incorrect. He could put the money into diversified funds tax deferred. It is an unbelievable deal he got - and Exxon also let his stock vest immediately nearly in full - rather than the years he got left

It seems to me that Tillerson drew first blood here by appearing to be less than supportive of President Trump.
