BREAKING: President Trump Has Chosen His Next Economic Advisor

President Trump has chosen economist Larry Kudlow to replace Gary Cohn as his senior economic advisor and leader of the National Economic Council.

Kudlow, best known for his time as a host on CNBC of "The Kudlow Report," will join the administration in the coming weeks. Cohn is leaving on good terms after disagreeing with the President on the implementation of tariffs.

"This is Gary Cohn's last meeting in the Cabinet and of the Cabinet. He has been terrific. He may be a globalist but I still like him," Trump said last week. "And he is a globalist there's no question. But you know what, in his own way he's a nationalist. Because he loves our country."

"He's going to go out and maybe make a couple hundred million and then maybe he's going to come back, right? We'll be here another seven years hopefully and, that's a long time but I have a feeling he'll be back. I don't know if I could put him in the same position though, he isn't as strong on those tariffs as we'd like," he continued.

Kudlow is a supporter of NAFTA and was a proponent of President Trump's jobs and tax reform plan. Like Cohn is against tariffs, recently wrote an op-ed with economist Stephen Moore titled, "Tariffs are taxes."

"Steel and aluminum may win in the short term, but steel-and-aluminum users and consumers lose," he wrote. "Tariffs are really tax hikes. Since so many of the things American consumers buy today are made of steel or aluminum, a 25 percent tariff on these commodities may This is a developing story, stay tuned for updates.

This looks like good news. Remember, many miss the VERY big difference between

- political globalism which threatens national borders and sovereignty versus

- international free trade which actually strengthens a nation and its sovereignty.

They didn't proof-read this sentence.

There is no such thing as international free trade currently. When one country allows goods from other countries unfettered access to it’s markets, and the other country makes their markets just about off limits to the other country, it’s date rape.

Anyone who thinks we have free and open trade with China is massively uninformed and totally incorrect

Kudlow was one of Trump's top economic advisors during the campaign.

Trump obviously thinks very highly of him.

Even though I disagree with Kudlow on several issues I think he's a superb choice for this role. I was kind of expecting it, in fact ... there were rumors of this appointment circulating out there for the last couple of months.

How are we going to establish FAIR trade, which might require tariffs, and get rid of NAFTA and other unfair agreements, when the people appointed in these positions are defenders of the status quo?

Regardless, the voluntary cooperation between buyers and sellers in the marketplace is VASTLY different from the government-forced blurring of political borders and national sovereignty.

We should import our economic advisers from China. They seem to have their crap together and are kicking our ass through one sided free trade and protectionist tariffs.

Again I ask was George Washington being socialistic when he signed the Tariff Act of 1789?

Tariffs are an excise taxes levied on imports. They are regressive because they raise the price of goods and services. The poor must pay these higher costs in the form of higher prices.

Income taxes are progressive, like you.

Gee the founders who codified duties and tariffs in the USC were a pack of Marxists. Who knew?
Article 1 - The Legislative Branch Section 8 - Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;
