The anti-gun Left tried to push expanded background checks and failed. Now, they’re harping on increasing the age limit to buy long guns to 21; it’s 18 in most states. Florida recently passed a law that increased the age limit, with President Trump jostling with increasing the age at the federal level. Of course, this is a gross infringement on Second Amendment rights, but the pro-gun control crowd is pushing it. Why the hell not. They’ve had some legislative success here.
Yet, the complete ignorance of basic firearms knowledge has led to them stepping on a rake again, with Moms Demand Action’s Shannon Watts tweeting an image of a scary AR-15-style rifle to push for more gun control. The only problem is that it wasn’t an AR-15. It was a .22 caliber bolt-action rifle, which is quite common. We all know that an overwhelming majority of Democrats want to ban semiautomatic firearms, especially these so-called weapons of war. Well, the first step in making that horrible argument is knowing what these firearms look like, and knowing the difference between a bolt-action rifle and one that is semiautomatic—both of which are not scary or unusual, by the way.

The reason we need people who know something about guns to be involved in writing legislation is on display in that pic. That is a BOLT ACTION rifle chambered in .22lr. It is not a “military” rifle in ANY way. Pretty sure no military uses .22 or for anything.— Phil (@philthatremains) March 13, 2018
The fact that it is BOLT ACTION means you shoot one bullet and you need to reload the chamber manually. This is accomplished by manually pulling the action back and pushing it forward again, pushing a round from the magazine into the chamber.— Phil (@philthatremains) March 13, 2018

An understanding of the subject at hand.
A good faith argument.

It's par for the course. On top of not knowing basic firearms knowledge, the pro-gun control wing of America has decided to call those with whom they have disagreements on this issue terrorists. So, we're not going to bridge the divide any time soon with folks like these--why should we.
If They want to ban guns, how about they go about repealing and replacing the Second Amendment. Anything else is an infringement upon the Second Amendment.
Get you a gun.

If they can’t remove 30 million illegal aliens, there is no way they can remove 400 million guns.

You can’t debate a 50 IQ leftist. They don’t debate or think; they feel. Once that is understood, you can debate them on their emotional level, which includes:
1. Threats of violence.
2. Violence.
3. Death.
President Reagan understood that and used it to great advantage to collapse the former Soviet Union.
I’ve been all over Facebook arguing and attempting to discuss the issues and they have nothing but cheap emotionalism to argue with. They simply want the Government to DO SOMETHING! ANYTHING! to make them feel safe.
They have no concept of Unintended Consequences of such actions.

We avoid enemy territory like Facebook and engage these SJWs (Social Justice Wimps) on the street and in bars. They really wimp out and cry for their mommies when confronted.

We engaged a pack of 50 IQ affirmative action wimps at one of our Tea party meetings. We chased them off the public square, and they ducked into a building and locked the door. They bawled like babies for the cops to come rescue them. The cops, laughing their butts off, escorted the wimps to their cars.
Heh, heh, the Founders made amending the Constitution an extremely difficult process. And there are only two ways to repeal an Amendment, which is the only way to create a new one.
What’s scary is an approaching tsunami of GVRO’s where anyone with a grudge against a gun owner can denounce him to the po-po who then seize his guns. The only added ingredient is a judge’s order. Otherwise, this is KGB knock on door stuff.
Exactly right. But you really have to watch out for the black booted men of the very local groups that have agreed to be part of the Emergency Management of your town. They have had all the NIMS training, and they know exactly where you live. Sigh
I think I have not one “old” friend who was a “feelie” person left. It is a shame but I cannot tolerate that kind of fuzzy lazy inconsiderate (can’t consider anything beyond the last tear) thinking when it comes to important issues.
I call the AR-15 the perfect Girl Gun. (Yes I know it is a rifle, but I needed the G).
If someone breaks into my house, I want my wife armed with something that looks very scary! Secondly, it has very little recoil. Third, it has a large magazine. My wife under stress is bound to miss a few times. Also, the perp may not be alone.
Oh I had a good one a few days ago. One guy down the road told me that we dont need these types of firearms. He asked me why does anyone need them-he is a flaming liberal. I told him people need them because of people like him.
Then he went on the rant about how these firearms kill. I told him that these firearms cant hold a candle to the death rate of abortion which is 100%.
I walked away from him and left his ass out in the middle of the desert sputtering.
Likewise on Twitter. Trying to have sensible debates with those who start out promising, but they fast turn to crass insults and won’t take a stand on anything. Like they think legislators can just snap fingers and guns will disappear completely, and think you’re a deranged simpleton for not agreeing.
Hence wars. They’ll force the issue with violence, and be surprised when their targets fight back. Debate will be impossible (practically is now), one side or other will simply win thru attention or subjugation.

The number of gun in the US is likely significantly higher than that. I don’t think anybody has a good idea of how many there are in the first place.
